Classic California 1966 VW Split Window Bus -Clean, Straight and Dry with a brand new rebuilt 2054 cc engine!
Welcome to my auction! You are bidding on a 1966 German Standard Microbus that is running great and ready for it's next adventure. Hop in and simply drive her away. I am selling her to make room for my newly restored replica/tribute 1963, 23 Window Samba that I have just completed.
This bus is super clean with an incredibly straight body, bright paintand comes with a new engine that is still under a limited warranty by the shop that just built it! (12 month from install or 12,000 miles - install was completed on 5/3/17 at 6752 miles - now at 7200 +/- miles with the first engine tune/inspection just completed. Next tune/inspection is due within 1000 miles to maintain warranty) Actual vehicle milage on chassis is unknown as you can imagine. I won't venture to guess.
Engine was built by the experienced crew at the BUGGY HOUSE in Hayward California. Currently around 500 miles on a complete rebuild of a 2054cc that can keep up with freeway traffic.(92 bore x 74 stroke) Warranty will be passed on to the new owner who must contact the guys at the BUGGY HOUSE in order to claim and establish/confirm ownership transfer and care and feeding instructions within 30 days of purchase or it will be null and void. If you miss out on the timing or live too far away to practically service it here, even without your use of the warranty you are getting an incredible new engine that runs great along with the mechanic as a reference prior to buying. That is peace of mind compared to when I bought this bus with a cracked head and no safety net! I did not feel comfortable reselling this bus with a questionable engine. Thus the rebuild. All receipts are on hand for the new owner.
Other things of note:New transmission 2014 (at 5159 mi)New headliner 2014(at 5159 mi)New Brakes all around 2014 (at 5159 mi)New Tie Rods 2014New battery 2017New Engine Rebuild May 2017 !Registered in CA until May, 2018Clear Title (Pink Slip) in my name is in hand.German MetalGarage kept vehicle
PO had bus lowered and added the Deluxe Trim and Safari windows during a recent restoration and he did a good job with it. Since I like a stock bus however, I returned it to stock height when I added the new transmission - but I kept the trim and windows because, well, it just looks great!
There is no "sellers reserve" set on this bus. I have chosen to set the starting bid at the lowest price that I am willing to sell for. This takes all the mystery out of the transaction. You want it, bid on it. If you prefer to find one cheaper and then put more money or sweat equity into fixing it all up after the fact, I have been there and totally understand that approach! Either way, it takes about the same money or work to get a bus to where this one is today.
Please take a careful look at the clear photos that I have taken of the bus. They tell the story of how nice this body and interior is. That is where the big cost is when buying a bus that needs more work.
Terms and Conditions:This is a 51 year old classic vehicle and as such, it is sold without seller warranty. Only the engine warranty is open to transfer to new owner through the shop that built it around 500 + miles ago as noted above. (I am still driving around town a little).I have the vehicle up for sale locally and reserve the right to end the auction early. While this bus is up for auction worldwide, I strongly prefer to see this bus kept in California. I am willing to assist in getting the bus to a vehicle transport location at the PORT OF OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA only. My fee to facilitate this transfer for overseas shipment if required is $500.00 added to the final purchase price of the vehicle and payable at time of shipping/ transit transaction via PayPal.I have shipped a '77 Bay to the UK a few years ago and still have contact with the buyer/owner who I count as a friend in the VW world... I am pretty sure he would act as a reference in England to anyone who is concerned about buying a vehicle overseas from me. Just let me know and I will try to hook you up via email as he will vouch for my reputation as a seller and share his experience dealing with me. This bus is in better overall condition than the bus I sold him due to the new engine and recent transmission.
I strongly encourage serious bidders to inspect the vehicle prior to biding and I will also welcome your inspectors - as long as they know how to drive a bus!
I do not accept bids on vehicles from eBay buyers with less than stellar buying or selling history. Please contact me if you are new to eBay and want to bid. Please do not bid unless you intend to complete the contract you are entering into.
Non-Refundable deposit of $1000.00 due at close of auction via PayPal. Balance Payment is due within 5 days by bank wire transfer or cashiers check only. All funds must clear my bank prior to releasing interest in the vehicle. Winning bidder must arrange payment with seller within 5 days of sale or bus may be re-listed or sold to second chance buyer at sellers discretion.
Thank you and please feel free to contact me for any questions or concerns. Good luck bidding! I hope you get your dream bus someday. There is nothing better than driving a split window bus... but you already know that!
Good luck and thanks for looking!
