Car description |

For your consideration is avery rare 1978 VW Super Beetle Convertible, Karmann Champagne II edition with FACTORY A.C. There were only 1100 of these made in 1978.. 550 in Ancona Metallic Blue and the other 550 in a Cinnamon color and each dealership got 1 in each color. This car having factory air conditioning sets it far apart from all the rest. It is a complete #'s matching vehicle but the only thing that is not original is the factory fuel injection system was replaced with an OEM manifold andcarburetorsystem...and the exhaust system was replaced as well. Other than that it is a 1 of akind find in almost completely original condition. 15" Factory original Lemmerz wheels.
sebeetles.com/champagne2/ Cut and paste this link to learn about my car. This car featured is EXACTLY my car.
I purchased the car and had it painted by a highly reputable vintage car restoration shop that completely dismantled the car, sanded the entire car to the bare metal, and repaired every single OEMfender, hood and trunk lid and primed, sealed and painted this car the original Ancona Metallic Blue...paint code L 97 B. I have every picture of the entire restoration process from beginning to end...from the day I first purchased the car in my driveway till today. I then had the top of the line roof and headliner installed...40 oz...with new carpet. I have listd only a handfull of the restoration pictures and I have every part that you don't see in the pictures like the headlights and the front blinker lights and all the little silver chrome pieces that go on the entire car. I have all the pedals and the hardware to connect them. also included is a brand-new master cylinder for the brake system.
Here's what needs to be done: First...the shop that did the paint also did the floor boards in the car. They had very minor rust on them but toavoid patching them I had them completely replaced with 1 piece left and 1 piece right floors. They came out perfect. The problem is they disconnected the pedals...the gas, brake, and clutch pedal was never reinstalled. The car does start, run and drive...but would need this reinstalled. Also, there is no radio. I have brand new running boards from Germany that I purchased and never put on and also the chrome pieces that attach to both fenderswhere the running boards get installed. Ipurchased the German running boards becausethey are the original ones to the car. No expense was spared...the only thing I ran out of was time and a reputable mechanic to finish the car for me. I'm tired of people doing work on the car that has to be redone. If you want something done right you have to do it yourself.
Also the wheels and the bumpers need to be re-chromed. I have the bumpers stored in my garage.
So withregards to the rest of this restoration...This car has a value of over $30k...and I have exhausted my efforts to get it done. You put the last little bit of time and effort to complete the project I started and you will have a window of $15k profit...or more. This is a very special car. Look it up and do your research. Out of the 550 made half were Blue and half were aCinnamon and they were display models in the showrooms across America. Very few came withfactory AC. Please compare Apples to Apples when comparing my Super Beetle to others. This is like no other. This is a KARMAN CHAMPAGNE 2 EDITION.
Please feelfree to come and inspect my car or send any reputable inspectioncompany here to inspect it. Although I can get it running for you, it obviously can't be drivenuntil the pedals are reinstalled. The running boards are included.
I can help with shipping arrangements but all costs are the expense of the purchaser. You can use a shipper of your choice and I will always make myself available for them.
A $500 non refundable deposit is required for purchasing this car and the balance must be received in hand within 3 days of auction close.
