AN INCREDIBLE LIFETIME EXPERIENCE....it has been for our family. This VW started brand new with my grandparents in 1972, then my parents, now my family is too big for the van. We had to increase seats for a 9-seat Suburban. Here are a few of the highlights below...trust me, this VW will make some great memories.
- Full rebuilt engine less than 1,000 miles, runs amazing.
- The odometer has 14,325 miles on it right now, but the rebuild was around December 2016 with 13,229 miles on the registration. The odometer flips at 99k miles, and has only crossed that one time. It's been a summer vacation driver with an average of 2,000+ a year for the last 45 years.
- The registration is good until 12/17/2018
- Transmission and clutch are great.
- This van was well taken care of.
- Rare permanent bubble top can sleep 4 with 2 levels of beds. 2 adults and 2 children comfortably. One more smaller child could sleep on the floor, it's tight, but I remember being that young kid. Parents in the van and kids in a tent is our usual set up. We'd put a tarp over the van and the front of the tent so you could go back and forth and stay dry.
- Fully functioning sink (covered by wood chopping block) with 10 gallon tank
- Dual gas stove on top of ice box
- Build in ice box with front opening door like small refrigerator
- Interior lights
- Electrical outlets work when hooked up to RV outlet
- Upholstery is well kept and has been redone.
- Mattresses are both comfortable to sleep on
- Tires are in good shape and comes with chains.
- Body, windows and paint are in great shape.
- New Kenwood Bluetooth/CD/mp3/radio and speakers.
- Bluetooth has microphone on steering column for taking calls while driving, although most places we traveled we turned off our phones...or there wasn't reception way out in the wilderness.
- Has higher clearance than you'd think, since there isn't a differential clogging up the underside. Therefore this van can go places that RVs or Sprinter vans can't.
- Comes with removable rack for top which we carried a 17' canoe on.
- Lots of interior dry storage for sleeping bags, dishes, food, camping supplies, anda build in clothes rack behind the sink for hanging.
- Exterior foldout table next to dual gas stove for food prep, cooking and eating.
- Interior removable table for rainy weather dinner (middle of rear bench) great for the Northwest.
- Seats 5 in seat belts.
- It's a very reliable vehicle that my brother and I drove through 38 States and 3 Canadian Provinces in 8 weeks (20 years ago). We left the lights on one night, but you can still push start this rig when needed. So it is a very versatile van. That summer we went over 2,000 miles, and it was a great experience.
- If you want an amazing vehicle for some amazing adventures and lifetime memories, then this is yourVW.
- Since this is on Ebay and is being sent out to the far reaches of the planet, you can even fly out to Portland, Oregon and drive it home. We'll pick you up from the airport in it. It can also be shipped at new owner's expense. I had a car shipped from Kentucky to Oregon a few years back for around $1,000.
