1969 Volkswagen Bus
I purchased this sweet bus a while back from the estate of he original owner. She bought it new at Continental Volkswagen in Littleton, CO and it spent its entire life in Boulder CO. The original owner drove it daily until she passed away several years ago. Afterwards, it was kept in a garage and driven occasionally by one of her daughters to keep it running. When I got it home, I replaced the battery drained the fuel tank, replaced the fuel pump and all the fuel lines and changed the oil. That's all it took to make it run like a champ. It's an absolute pleasure to drive.
I was told that the engine was rebuilt in the late 90's and it runs very well. All of the brake and suspension components are in good condition. The transmission has a little bit of a bearing noise but it still work fine and shifts like butter. The tires are in good condition as well. All of the lights, wipers, horn etc work as they should. The radio doesn't work though, and the ignition switch has been replaced by an aftermarket unit to left of the steering wheel.
Externally, I was told that it was sideswiped a long time ago on the passengers side and it doesn't look like they did the best job repairing the damage. The paint isn't the same shade and it looks like there is a lot of body filler on the left side. The front floors are rust free but there is some rust in the cargo floor. They installed some wood on the floor with carpet over it and some kind of insulation and I bet it held water in somehow and that's where the rust came from. There is some rust starting in the rocker panels too. Unfortunately, a couple weeks ago I had it at my work and it got caught in a hail storm so now there are some dents on the roof and the passengers side a pillar.
The interior is in pretty nice condition too. The passengers seat has some rips but the dashboard, drivers set and door panels are pretty nice. The rear seat is in good shape as well. I believe that this bus is a base model "Kombi" and as such it didn't have a rear headliner or side panels. The previous owners installed a homemade camper style interior with wood side panels, headlining and curtains. There is also a hinged wooden panel behind the rear seat that folds flat to make a bed if the rear seat is removed. I should also note that there are a couple holes cut into the engine bay that I suspect were for a gas heater that is long gone.
As always, I have done my best to describe this bus honestly and accurately as I want the new owners to be happy with their purchase. If you have any questions, I can be reached via email or by phone at 303-332-5014. I have a clear Colorado title in my name. the bus is located in Arvada, CO. Overseas buyers are welcome. Buyer is responsible for shipping. Thanks!
