We purchased this vehicle a few years ago out of Arizona. It has previously been titled in Washington State as well. It is very solid and original.
The motor runs great, starts right up, runs smooth, and has good power. Has original PICT34 carb. I added a new alternator and 009 distributor. I have changed oil every year as we have only put 1000 +/- miles on it a year. Does not smoke or use oil. I have adjusted valve train and is quiet. Clutch has good feel. Shifting is typical of a Beetle. I added a short throw kit to the shifter to make if a bit more firm and replaced the bushing at the transmission with a polyurethane version. The front suspension has new components and is tight. This suspension allows for ride height adjustment. When I bought it I raised it a couple of notches as it would occasionally bottom out when my country roads had a crown in them. It still is has a lower sporty look but very driveable. Tires are good. Fronts are smaller than stock and show a little wear on the inside edges. Wider than stock chrome wheels were added by previous owner.
The pans/floor boards and heater tubes are very solid. Body is solid and straight. No rust under battery either. Paint has some small imperfections as a car that is driven does. Presents very well and very cute. Top and headliner are in nice condition but are not perfect. The top has 3 small rips at rear window. Each rip is less that a inch long. I put black urethane sealer on them to prevent moisture getting into the top. Headliner is white and has a couple small stains. I added new floor mats and the interior is good shape. The previous owner added a stereo. Has 2 speakers in the rear package tray. They are mounted to a board with black vinyl on it and there is a speaker in each door. There is also interior lighting added near the floor front and rear. These lights are operated a rocker switch below the dash.
We purchased this because my wife always wanted a beetle and a convertible. She enjoyed it for a few years and now it is time to let you enjoy it. It is a blast to drive. I am a car collector and builder. I have always had cars from the 30's, 40's and 50's. This little beetle is one of the most enjoyable cars I have driven. I hope that I can have another one some day. Good luck bidding and ask questions if needed.
Winning Bidder will need to place $500.00 down via Paypal within 24 hours of auction close. I am willing to assist in coordination of shipping at buyers expense. Non refundable deposit.
