I am very motivated to sell this van. I I live in Alaska. The van is in Ft. Collins, CO. I will be coming to CO to get this sold from March 27th-April 3rd. Must sell!! Please contact me with questions or to make an offer!
It is currently at Mr. Mechanic and Rocky Mtn Westy. The engine was running rich so I took it in and they got it started, but the plugs were fouled. Now it won't start again and I am reluctant to put any money to it, as I need it sold asap. I am selling it as is. The mechanics think it could need heads replaced and a couple other high priced repairs to the engine and a tune up to get it running smooth. **** they do Subaru conversions and currently have a great used 1.9 L engine that they would do an engine replacement with for $2,500.00!!!!*** That is a smoking deal for an engine swap. I would highly recommend this instead of a head repair. Or is you have an engine and want to swap it yourself, or would like to put a more high powered engine in/ conversion, then this is Your Van!
If you did the engine replacement with Mr. Mechanic (mentioned above) and a couple other odds and ends to get it running top, I think you would pay around $3,000.00 and have a really great rig!
1985 VW Westfalia Camping Vanagon. Mocha Brown. Original Paint. Great rig. SO fun! Only selling because I had to upgrade to a Toyota Sunrader to live in for the winter. Need to sell it NOW because I am moving back to Alaska for work for the future.
Good Things:
Near complete maintenance logs!
Brand New Automatic Transmission w less than 1500 miles. fuel injector seals replaced, Rear brakes replaced. Runs and drives excellently. No engine sounds. New Starter, Fairly new O2 sensor and new ground, Fairly new alternator, temp sensor, fuel injectors cleaned, distributor rebuild, new grounds here and there.
upgrade to 16" steel wheels and Nokian tires w less than 9k miles
hickory laminate flooring
upgraded water faucet
solar shower
rear hatch tent
rear hatch bike rack that fits 3 bikes
furnished w rug, pillows, camping tea kettle
solar chargerfor the dash 12V
manual and parts book
PDF copy of Bentley manual to new owner (please remind me to send you this)
canvas in good condition
pop top in good condition, no leaks
has lived most of life in AZ, CO, UT and some in NC
blemish on rear side (i didn't do it)
UV film peeling in some areas
Odometer broke approx 6k miles ago. Reads around 250k.
No Catalytic Converter. Just register as an antique and you don't need emissions check.
Near complete maintenance log and repair log. Regular oil changes.
The 16" wheels really make a difference in the drive and safety of the van. Rides totally different than a 14" wheel.
This is a great van. You will love it!
