Rare 1965 Double cab bus in great condition. Solid original floors, and excellent original bed, you can tell this bus was never abused like so many as a commercial vehicle. Uncut original dash. This bus was repainted in the 1980s in burgundy and white, I did not care for the burgundy so I sanded it off. There was a bit of rust in the rockers, so they were professionally replaced along with a piece of the main floor that tied into the passenger side rocker. We then painted the former burgundy areas and the rockers in a new coat of white...so the current paint is a mix of 1980s white, and year old white. The drop gates are in over all good condition, but you can see where some work was done to them in the 1980s that is starting to show, and the drivers door has a broken hinge...still works just fine, but you feel it buckle a bit when opening the door fully. The passenger cab corner has rust, most likely from battery as this was common, please see the photos. The bus came with an extensive history of it maintenance and restoration work, that will come with the bus. This is a great running and driving bus, very smooth...but the synchros are out of 1st and 2nd gear, but I have driven the bus like this since purchasing it, including a 600 mile trip to the VW Show in Yakima, Washington last summer and the bus did great. All the brakes have been recently serviced, and it has 1 year old tires all around. The bus throws very nice heat, and the wipers work just fine. Overall a great bus, especially for a double cab as they tended to live rougher lives. I have additional photos, feel free to ask any questions...thanks. I reserve the right to end the auction early if the bus sells locally.
