Due to a not paying bidder back up for auction.
To give you an overview. Here are some of the important facts up in front
- The Ebay form wouldn't allow to type in the European VIN.This is the correct VIN:WVWZZZ24ZJG003145- The Double Cab comes with a clear Oklahoma title and registration- The vehicle is located in Springdale Arkansas. Zip code 72764- Differential locks in the front and in the rear- I will assist with shipping. If necessary I can arrange worldwide shipping- Scroll all the way down to see more pictures- The double cab can be inspected at any time during the auction- Please contact me for additional information
For sale is an incredible piece of automobile history. The double cab was produced in July 1988 and first registered in September 1988. It was in use at a big forestry company in northern Sweden and was the company car of a senior staff. The Syncro never had to work hard and was well maintained all its life.Sweden gets a lot of snow, but there is no salt on the streets which makes a condition like this possible. Another reason for the great condition is the factory special ordered body cavity sealing which you can still see in every body gap, door, engine compartment, treasure chest etc..
A friend in Germany located the VW for me after almost two years of searching and after inspecting over 30 other vehicles. This truly is an awesome car and sure one of the best original non restored Syncro double cabs worldwide.
The VW still has it's original paint which looks fabulous. It only has a few small dings, dents and scratches which makes it authentic.
The Syncro is originally equipped with differential locks on both axles and is powered by the 112 hp injector gasoline engine. It is the most powerful motor that VW put into vanagons and it has the big advantage that it is legal in all states. So no worries about smog tests. The motor was replaced ( original VW/ VAG ) in 2010 and has only 40.000 kilometers ~ 25.000 miles on it.At a cruising speed of 55/60 mph it gets about 25mpg
The double cab was built for the cold and has a few nice options. It has two independent vehicle heaters. One is an electric plug in heater which is used overnight, the other one is a gasoline powered Webasto heater. It also comes with a heated drivers seat and many more.
The interior is almost flawless and shows how well it was taken care of. I have never seen a Syncro with a close to perfect interior like this.
The vehicle condition was outstanding from the beginning on, but the VW still needed a little attention.Following work was done:New brake pads and brake cylinders were installedThe break fluid was changedNew rubber seals were installed on the driver and on the passenger front doorNew rubber seal around the windshieldOil and filter were changedThe wooden engine decklid was replaced by a NOS partThe mass cables were replacedThe fan belt was replaced
I wanted a car which sticks out and turns heads even if it is surrounded by other Syncros. So I decided to change / add a few things.During the building process I always kept my focus on the option to put it back to stock at any time. So there were no changes done to the body etc..
I had all the work done by professionals in Germany before it was shipped to the US. Only high quality parts were used.
The Syncro was lifted with custom coils and Koni Red heavy track shocks and is now running on 225/75 R16 tires. Over all the double cab is now 7,5 inches higher than before. Distance plates made it 2,5 inches wider.
The roll cage was custom built and is made out of four separate pieces that are bolted together. That makes it possible to use it as wanted and needed. If it's necessary to use the bed, the cross ( spare tyre holder ) will be disabled in under ten minutes. The same applies to the other parts. The complete roll cage including the bull bar was powder coated. The diamond plate aluminum is heavy duty which makes it possible to carry a heavy load on the roof.
The Syncro comes with some very nice and brand new extra equipment:10.000 lbs Warn winch4 Hella beams with rally cabs2 Sandboards2 metal jerrycans including holders ( lockable )High lift desert jack 48"Fiskars off road shovel
It also comes with the original spare tyre, jack, tools, manual, checkbook, inspection documents from Sweden, winch manual and remote.
All in all it is a beautiful car and a safe investment. This Syncro is rock solid, bone dry and very original. It might be a once in a lifetime opportunity to own such a high quality and unique Syncro double cab. I hate to let it go, but a baby is coming and funds are needed. My loss is your gain.
