Car description |
---|
Up for auction is this 1971 Super Beetle. It is a daily driver in very good running condition, with many new parts, including new carburetor, fuel pump, fuel lines from the tank to the engine, clutch, throwout bearing, flywheel, pressure plate, generator, throttle cable, brake master cylinder, tune up including new plugs plug wires points distributor cap and rotor, oil change, oil screen, and 4 brand new tires. The car has been gone through get it ready to continue to be a reliable daily driver. Has a factory sunroof. It is all stock (not modified) and ready for you to enjoy the classic VW Beetle experience. The car runs and drives very well and has that classic VW Fahrvergnügen feeling to it.
The interior is in fair shape at best - it has some damage to the steering wheel and tears in both front seats, although it does come with those classic fake sheepskin seat covers. The rear seat is in fairly good shape though. Carpet isn't too bad either. Has a brand new headliner. If you want to start out with a Beetle this is a great one because you can give it some TLC on the interior and the paint, but mechanically the car is very sound.
This is a NON-SMOKING car - as far as we know or can tell this car was never owned by a smoker - the ashtray has never had ashes in it.
The exterior is fairly straight - no major collision damage but both rear fender have been dented at some point and had the dents pounded out - see the close-up photos of both fenders.
Most of these cars rust through the floor and under the back seat where the battery goes, but this is a Nevada car and the climate here prevents things from rusting. Some surface rust where the paint is scratched but nothing serious or structural. Underside paint is very chipped, with surface rust only but it should be repainted or undercoated before the car is driven much outside the Southern California/Nevada area as the exposed metal will rust very quickly in damp climates. If you are planning to use the car as a daily driver let me know and I will paint the underside with anti-rust primer for you. This has not been done already in case the purchaser wants to do a complete restoration.
It's an excellent candidate for a restoration if you want, or it will be a lot of fun if you want a daily driver bug. This is the sort of beetle that was pretty common 10-20 years ago but they are getting harder to find, especially in this kind of original condition. It's a great, every day runner.
Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping. We can help arrange shipping if needed.
