1974 VW Beetle

If you had one of these back in the day you are going to LOVE this one. This was a one family owned car since new, always in Austin, Texas and the Texas Hill Country.
The original owner passed away in 1995 and the car went to her daughter. The daughter sent the car our and had it restored which was a pan off restoration. It was completely gutted and painted inside and out. The car was reassembled and a brand new black interior installed. The cost of the restoration was just under $13,000.00!
When the car was all finished she must have had too many memories because it was parked in the garage and covered with bed sheets. Being South Texas it was always warm and dry so it did not deteriorate at all over the years.
Fast forward to 2015 and I was finally able to purchase the car. I am an Automotive Engineer and going through cars like this is my hobby as is driving them regularly once I am finished with them. I brought it home and went through the entire car from bumper to bumper and replaced everything required to make it roadworthy. I did find a number of things that had not been done correctly when the car was restored and corrected them. Having owner a number of old VW's I not only remember them, I know how they are supposed to run and drive. This one is just as it was when it was new down to the bias ply whitewalls and correct 1974 only Sapphire 18 AM radio. This car has been debugged and is ready to go to a new owner.
Being From South Texas its entire life there is no rust anywhere on this car and the entire vehicle has no rusted areas or patches at all. Heater boxes are original to the car and have never been replaced. When I bought the tires I bought all five from Coker Tire so they are all brand new and the original bias ply with the correct one inch whitewalls. Everything else on the car was checked and if there was ANY question about safety or deterioration, it was replaced.
When I started it driving again the odometer did not come back to life, the speedo works fine but the odometer is stuck in time. The family I got the car from told me that they think it is accurate because the woman lived in the City of Austin and never drove it that much. It will come with all the extra parts and manual bought during getting it back on the road.
A really fun car that gets compliments wherever you take it. I will deliver it within 500 miles after payment and will work with the new owner to get it picked up if you need to ship it. Look at my feedback as a buyer and seller and you will see that my reputation speaks for itself.

The picture showing the rub strip in place is correct, sorry for the confusion. The nice thing about the 1974 is that they had been configured for low lead and no lead fuels starting in 1973 so they run on today's fuels just fine. When I went through the car I replaced everything in the fuel system with materials compatible with the ethanol additives in today's gas. All the flexible lines, gaskets, fuel pump and the new carb are all set up for ethanol additives.
I build my cars to drive and enjoy, my only quirk is that I make them authentic as far as tires so it will be exactly as it was in 1974. Coker came out with radials that look like bias ply tires right after I bought the bias ply tires....Figures.
The AM radio is authentic 1974 and was a one year only radio. I added a device called a RediRad that allows you to ply music through your phone to iPod/iPad. you just plug in the device through the ear phone jack and it works great without losing the authenticity.
