Car description

1972 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Custom

This 1972 Karmann Ghia is a pristine, show-stopper of a hot rod. Pictures do not even begin to do it justice. It drives beautifully. I love this car and hate to get rid of it – I’ve talked myself out of selling it probably a dozen times. This car has been in the family since the mid-‘90s and was completely restored by me and my father to its current glory in 2006 through a meticulous three-year process.

This car has undergone a complete body-off, top-to-bottom, front-to-back, inside-and-out restoration and has numerous custom modifications. Every inch of this car has been overhauled, and the restoration process was photo-documented along the way. It is truly a one-of-a-kind car. This Ghia has won several awards at local and regional car shows, including taking first place in its class at the Seattle Roadster Show in 2007. It has been babied and housed in a garage since the restoration was completed. It runs excellently, and with less than 300 miles put on the car since our restoration, it will keep you cruising until you can’t cruise anymore.

One of this Ghia’s most unique features is the custom sliding soft-top, which was not a factory option for the Karmann Ghia. I have never seen another Ghia with a soft top like this. The custom body work done to the nose of the car also gives it a stunning new look. Also, this car does not have the typical Volkwagen “putt-putt” exhaust sound; it rumbles like a Harley-Davidson and is so much fun to listen to when you rev her up. This car has absolutely no rust and is the cleanest car you’ll probably ever see. With the silver powder-coated chassis and pan, it is just as clean underneath as it is on top. Every single nut and bolt has been removed, cleaned and painted, and reassembled on the car. Vehicle specs, modifications, and other restoration work are listed below.

In the past, when I’ve sold other vehicles, I have been very transparent about any possible issues or flaws. With this Ghia, there is nothing to tell and nothing to hide. If you are a Volkswagen fanatic, are looking for a gorgeous show car, or just want a unique car to cruise around in, place your bid before it’s too late. Good luck!
