1987 Vanagon Camper Westy | 1987 Vanagon Camper. This is a show winner van. I have owned for the last 9 years and rebuilt inside and out. Please see list. this is a perfect running VW. Took a 1200 mile trip to WV this fall and van rides great. Below is a list of some of the things that we have done to it over the years. Can't remember the list is long. PROS: New CV joints New roof Vent Replaced coolant junction box Engine Top end rebuilt (new heads - 2007) 17K miles New transmission and clutch - 2012 New Go Westy three window pop top canvas New brakes and rotors - front and rear New 15” Wheels and Michelin tires (10K miles) Go Westy Deep Cycle Auxiliary battery and wiring New paint - ($4000 paint job) Tinted windows Go Westy high voltage head light kit Four new Bilstrien shocks New windshield and seal New LP tank All new hook-ups (water, elect) New Pioneer CD and six speakers (6 x 9) with ipod connector New Go Westy steel bumpers (These are tank like you can jump on them) Installed sound deafening installation to engine compartment and floor boards New Cargo top and seal Sinthenic Oil only! 1200 Watt Inverter AC/DC All screens and curtains included 2 inside tables CB radio New AC compressor and freon (October 2016) COLD AC Cons: The rear bench seat has a few very small tears that I fixed but need to be redone. The 2nd battery is dead. Will need to be replaced. I just don't drive her much any more. All in all this is the one of the best looking Vanagons in the south.
