Car description

Listed here is a street legal Manx style dune buggy, uilt in 1976 on a shortened VW Beetle chassis, believe 11" was taken out of the pan to shorten it for the fiberglass buggy body.
  • I have had this car for 20+ yrs, t has always been dry garage kept and has been used 2-3 times a year. The car runs fine, speed manual trans shifts as it should. The engine is a 1964 1200cc, 0 hp unit. #81 25 285 which scoots around nicely, uick and fun to drive.
  • A couple years back, did a tune up on the engine with new ignition parts including cap & rotor, lugs & wires etc. I also installed aluminum valve covers with new gaskets. I just replaced the battery this weekend.
  • All lighting, orn, adio, ipers & gauges work fine. The wiring below the dash looks a little tangled and loose as I added the stereo years ago when in high school, ut it all works as it should.
  • The vehicle does show use and wear as my family has used it for 2 decades, t has seen quite a few drive-in trips. The chrome is mostly original and shows it, he front marker lights are worn thin on chrome, ome pitting on the rear taillights. Headlights are fairly new & nice. The bumpers are recent installs, have the original full width Model A Ford style bumpers that were originally on it. The zoomie pipes are have surface rust but work fine.
  • There are some marks and paint scuffs/nicks on the edges of the body in the rear from squeezing in a double door on my garage. Nothing major and I'll try to clean them up before sale. I painted the car 15 yrs ago or so, ot a bad job but not showroom perfect. Blue metallic. The fiberglass below is dark blue with coarse silver glitter.
  • The interior upholestry is in good condition, ront seat covers are a few years old, ear is original. All are nice and pliable with no rips or tears. Steering wheel is old foam Grant style. Carpeting is some old blue house shag-type stuff.
  • The convertible top is in overall good, liable condition. Has a small tear at the front fastening point and the stitching has worn loose at the zipper in the rear, oth pictured. The car comes with zip-in side windows which are rolled up in a carry bag and have never been used. It goes up & down very quickly with two snaps.
  • The wheels are aluminum slots original to the era, n lug adapters to the original wide-5 VW wheels studs. Tires are also bias-ply oldies and are in great condition with no obvious cracking or heavy wear. It rides straight & true and corners well, o complaints.
  • The windshield is clear with no damage, do have an era correct VW rear view mirror for it than can be glued back on the windshield. This is included in auction with adhesive.
  • The brake system likely needs gone through as I do not believe that all wheels are working evenly or at all. It has been like this all the years that I have had it and I am used to it, ut the new driver may not care for it so I just wanted to bring light to this probably needing attention.
  • The vehicle is titled as Reconstructed / Special Construction with a Pennsylvania assigned vehicle number as pictured. I have the car plated and insured as a 1976 VW with no concerns, akes for cheap insurance & registration.
  • ALSO INCLUDED with sale of buggy is a towbar to pull the buggy behind your vehicle, nd a spare engine that I picked up years ago, f you want it. The spare is a 1600cc 50hp, 974-1980 VW #AJ 10 77 88 which is fairly complete and stock, ondition unknown but also kept in dry storage.I also have a big sack of V-dub engine sheetmetal that goes as well.
  • The car is a very reliable runner, t has honestly never let me down. I would trust it to be driven home as far as you'd want, have taken it out of state for concerts and events quite a few times. The side skirts on the buggy are original to the maker, hich I cannot remember the name of - I had researched it once and didn't write down the name. I hear that these are fairly rare and I don't believe that they are made aftermarket. The reason for sale now after owning it so long is that I am a Ford guy and just picked up a '31 A hot rod that needed garage space - space that the VW buggy has been taking up. Sentimental value on the buggy kept it around for a long time, ut I think its time for it to go to someone who will enjoy it more than I will.
The vehicle is sold as-is, here is. I imply no warranty and assume no responsibilty for the vehicle post sale. I will locate a notary to transfer the vehicle title after auction close, ith all associated fees of transfer paid by purchaser.I prefer that the car be picked up where it is currently located. Zip 15333, hich is approx 45 minutes south of Pittsburgh, A I have never dealt with shipping a car, ut I will make the car available to any shippers arranged solely by the buyer. I'll do my best to help. Full purchase price must be made before car is shipped.A $500 deposit is required with 48 hrs of auction end, o exceptions. Remainder of purchase price to be paid upon pickup within 7 days, n cash or bank cashiers check only.Deposit preferred by PAYPAL, ostal money order accepted if necessary.I do have the car listed in other forums, o I do reserve the right to end the auction early at my discretion, hereby cancelling all bids made to that point.Thank you for looking and feel free to shoot me any questions, 'll reply within the day.
