1980 VW Westfalia camper

Up for sale is a 1980 VW Westy with NO RESERVE!!One of my son's friends asked me to help sell his van that he's been storing on my property. It was driven to Calif. when he came here for college, rom Washington state. It has a clear Washington title. Due to upgrade modifications made to the engine in Washington it will NOT pass California's stringient smog inspection. This is due to the addition of two Weber carberators. Calif. requires all the original smog equipment and fuel system. Since he couldn't register here, e stored it with the goal of buying and installing any equipment that the van originally came with. But being a student with limited funds the van has just set here. He ended up getting other transportation (motorcycle) and just doesn't need the van. I will try to describe any deficiencies I see so buyer knows what will need to be done to make it perfect. I installed a brand new battery and it started right up. I took it for a spin and found that it shifted just fine and had plenty of power. It doesn't have any major leaks and doesn't smoke. The lifters are sticking some as it set for about a year. There is also some small rust bubbles in a couple places, ut no rust through or holes. And underneath is very rust free and solid. There is one stone crack in the windshield, ut it has been treated. I drove it very little as it is not licensed in Calif. Any Calif. buyer needs to realize the need for smog equiptment and certification, hich will be the buyers responsability. Other States may have different rules and regulations that go by the output of emissions instead of visual needs. The van will be sold as we are selling with no reserve. He realizes he will not recoup what he paid, ut just needs money. All the camping equiptment is in the van as it came new but I don't know if everything works. So the van is being sold AS-Is, here is. Buyer will be responsible for shipping.
