I tried to take the pictures in various lighting conditions so that you could see how it looks during different times of day. The Interior pictures were really tough and most of the outdoor pictures make the interior look gray. I can assure you they are black and look awesome. Come view it in person if you are local, t is the only way to truly appreciate the depth and quality of the body and paint and the high-dollar interior materials that were used in this restoration) This elegant VW Cabriolet was found in the barn of the original owner around six years ago in El Dorado, A (dry Central CA). I purchased it and had it shipped to Southern CA where I began to dismantle and strip the car. After getting it apart and taking the engine to be rebuilt I decided to sell it to my friends at Blue Chip Motorcars / Family Classic Service Center. They completed the ground up rotisserie restoration on the car just recently and asked me to get involved in the selling of the vehicle. The original owner was an elderly woman from El Dorado, A. She drove the car for 14 years and 130K miles before parking it in her dry barn where it slept until I purchased it in 2011. The body and chassis on the car was in exceptional condition, ith no rust and no rot anywhere to be found. It had a couple of small dents and dings that were pulled and picked to perfection, ith the use zero bondo. Take your magnet to any part on the body or chassis on this car. Again these were very small dents and you will see how straight the body is in the pictures. All the body metal and pans are completely original to the car except for the rear lower exterior tail pan (between the two fenders in rear, nderneath the rear engine lid) which was bent and easier to replace than try to restore. The pans were phenomenally clean and needed no repair. The original undercoat on the pans was left intact, leaned deliberately and repainted over with a similar type of undercoat color material. The original undercoating under the fenders was completely stripped to the metal while the body pieces were removed, howing all the original paint underneath. During the restoration the undersides of the fenders were repainted but not undercoated. We thought this would look better if someone wants to show the car. All the original welds can be seen in the rear and front body areas. I have been restoring and collecting Porsche's, orvettes and VW's for about 25 years and have also been involved in Judging cars at concour events in Southern CA. I had always wanted a Black/Black VW Cabriolet and was set to find the nicest body and original chassis that I could find. These little Cabs are getting harder and harder to find, specially in "no hit"... zero rust condition. The body and paint work on the car are simply a 10. Family Service Center is one of the top restoration shops in South Orange County, ith one of the best body and paint shops in the area. Close to 1000 hours of work went into the restoration of this vehicle. Take a look at all the pictures, any of which show the restoration process. A high-end single stage paint was selected to give the car a period correct finish, ather than the two-stage modern paint process that just does not look correct on cars from this period. It was blocked and blocked and then blocked again before any paint was ever applied. Every piece was painted off the car and then assembled. Time was given for the paint to cure and was color sanded and buffed to a mirror like flat finish. The body and paint on this car is concour. NOTE: In the full body pictures you will notice that the rear engine lid gap seems larger on the right side at the top if you look carefully. When I picked up the car I didn't notice that the gap was off until I looked at the pictures. I had the owner's take it back in the shop and in less than five minutes it was adjusted to perfection. When you view the closeup body pictures there is one outside picture of the rear engine lid that exemplifies the exceptional fit. The picture I am` talking about is directly after the picture of the closeup of one of the hubcaps. Every nut and bolt was attended to, he entire electrical system was replaced with a brand new harness. The suspension too was completely rebuilt using only top-quality parts, nd of course, he entire braking system was replaced and/or rebuilt. All the rubber seals throughout were replaced as were all the hinges, umpers, ights, olding, lass, ipers and door handles. Even the running boards are new. The top is all brand new high-end materials done by a local expert in Porsche and Mercedes Benz restorations. The owners did not have a boot made for the car, o that is something that you will have to acquire. There is a picture of how the original boot will look on the car and it is directly after the picture of the closeup of the trunk mentioned above. The original radio is in the car but is not currently working. The original Black CA Plates come with the car and are shown in the pictures. These are the plates that came with it in 1964. They have not been restored and retain their original patina and clearly show the last sticker that was put on the car in 1978, long with the last registration from 1977-1978. The original owner had lost the original title and filed for a new one in 1977. This is the old style CA pink slip (pictured) that comes with the car and issued in 1977. The new owner will likely want to have a license plate restorer do these plates to perfection to match the rest of the car. The engine was rebuilt by Jack Staggs, he renowned Porsche 356 expert in San Clemente, A. Jack took his time and put his 35 years of experience into building Porsche and VW engines to make this an incredible little bug engine something special. The engine runs phenomenally for the original 1200cc 40 hp engine. The car has plenty of power going up hills and drives straight down the road and brakes with authority. This is the nicest running early VW I have ever driven. It is brand new and feels like the day it rolled off the assembly line. We like the "Euro-Look" of black wall tires and black wheels rather than the white-walls and white inner ring on the wheel that would have come on a US model. This Black on Black on Black Beetle is simply as good as it gets. It's brand new and ready to go to a new home. Restored by one of the top restoration shops in Southern CA and one of the best engine builders in America. This will surely be a standout if you decide to show it or just drive and enjoy.
