Hi There, Thank you for looking at my auction. Up for sale is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a spectacular karmann ghia, ith a history just as fascinating as it's remarkable original condition. This car has been well known in the Pacific Northwest karmann ghia circle as the "Ghia off Dover Lane". It was rumored for many years, hat a low mileage, riginal paint, owner karmann ghia was hiding in the Portland, regon area, till in possession of the original family that bought it new. The rumor way back when, as the original owner had unexpectedly passed away in the early 1970s, nd the family parked the car under cover in a garage off Dover Lane, nd out of the public eye (as they couldn't sell it since it was a member of the family). My personal connection with this ghia, nd first time I laid eyes on it was in 1995. The car was in fact hidden off Dover Lane, n Portland, regon. It was still owned by the Fix' family, ho bought it new. Harold Fix (the original owner) was a karmann ghia lover. He bought his first karmann ghia, 1956 coupe, new from Riviera Motors, n Portland, regon, nd fell in love with the car. He really liked the mechanical upgrades that VW had done to the ghias, nd the 1969 model year appealed to him based on the front disc brakes, RS suspension, 2 volt electrical, nd improved heater system. He traded his 1956 coupe in on this Oriole Yellow 1969 coupe. Harold left the car to his family after his passing, nd his Son, arold Fix Jr, as the caretaker for several years. Back in 1995 it has just a hair over 40k original miles, nd still wore it's original tires. The Fix family back in the mid 1990s was ready to pass the car onto a new home, nd it fell into the hands of a local Pacific Northwest VW Collector / Enthusiast that did an amazing job of preserving the car, aintaining it mechanically, nd keeping it in excellent unrestored condition. It was driven sparingly to the tune of 1k miles per year, just enough to exercise it and keep all systems in working order), nd today it has 59,882 miles on the clock. Now onto the current condition: This 1969 ghia is the best driving, ightest handling, ne hand on the wheel karmann ghias I've ever had the pleasure of driving. As close to "showroom new" as you can get. It's unreal how nice this ghia is on the open road. The original engine purrs down the road, ransmission shifts beautifully, t tracks straight, rakes well, teering box is tight with no slop, tc. All electrical works, own to the interior light, ash lights, adio, nd reverse lights mounted on the rear bumper. The windshield washer squirter functions properly also. One interesting item is the gash guard mounted on the nose. Many ghia owners back when added this if their cars got bumped in the nose. Harold Fix had this installed by the dealer when the car was new, ot to cover up damage to the nose. According to Harold Fix Jr, is Father liked the racey, lfa Romeo look, nd opted for this upgrade day 1. All glass is original to the car, ncluding the windshield (really unusual). There's a rock chip in the front glass, lease view gallery picts for a close up. Nothing to be concerned with, t's not spreading, ut worth mentioning. It still wears the original Oriole Yellow paint that it was born with, nd the shine is remarkable. Some original paint VWs lose their ability to hold a shine, his car was saved from the elements by being garaged, nd living it's pampered life in a temperate climate, nder cover and out of the elements. As you'll see in the pictures, t does have some minor bumps, ruises, nd touch ups done here and there,as any 46 year old car will have after all those years. Overall it's still the nicest original paint karmann ghia that I've seen period. The doors shut effortlessly, aps are perfect, nd they close by themselves if you let go of the exterior door handles. The sheepskin seat covers have been on it since new. I'll let the next owner decide if they stay or not. The Cordoban Brown interior still has the rubber floor mats in place, nd they are covered by a set of carpeted floor mats. Headliner is perfect, ack seat if flawless, ooks just like it did back in 69. It was sold new on September 9th, 968 at Paul Koch VW, n Milwaukie Oregon. Drive train is original to the car, nd the fan shroud still wears the white inspection paint, omething you don't see too often, nd a feature unique to low mileage cars that have their original engine tins. It still has the original owner's manual, ervice booklet, arold Fix's customer ID Card, aintenance log stamps as dealer service was performed, nd maintenance records accumulated over the years of service. You can track the mileage right up to Harold's passing, hen it went into hibernation back in the early 1970s. Floor pan is rock solid and rust free. License plates front and rear are original to the car, nd have never been off. Tires were replaced by the 2nd owner, still have the original spare that is included. Chrome is beautiful. Front bumper still wears its "AAA" sticker that has been on it since new. Original and complete tool kit included, long with the factory replacement fan belt. Car cover included.
