Car description |
---|
Triumph Spitfire 1500 with an interesting history. The previous owner had a fleet of British cars. He was in the process of modifying this one for vintage car racing when he sadly passed. I bought the car from his wife and got it running well via J.D.'s British Cars, here in Nashville, TN. As such, the car has several key upgrades that really set it apart from other Spitfires in terms of its performance.
For one, the engine has been professionally bored to 1800, giving more pickup at the wheel and improving highway speeds. It has a Crane Ignition, Electric Fuel Pump, Electric Fan, A Full Moss Motors Exhaust System, Webber Carburetors... the list goes one. Even I do not know the full extent to which the previous owner modded the car. It does have plenty of documentation going back to the original purchase of the car in the 1980's.
It's one quick little pony for it's type.
If you are at all familiar with vintage British cars, you will no doubt know that they require more care and maintenance than modern cars, and many small projects have yet to be done on the car. I have had all of the major performance work professionally completed. That said, the air conditioning/heating system does not seem to work (I only use this car when I can put the top down, so that has never bothered me). There are a couple of odds and ends that may need to be reinstalled. For example, the driver's side sun blocker- I had this removed because, as a tall driver, I found that it got in the way more than it helped. Also I had the windshield wiper stick removed.
Aesthetically the car shows its age a bit. When I first purchased it, I was looking into having it repainted, but my mechanic gave me some sage advice. He said to not worry about every little detail and just enjoy driving it. With regards to aesthetics, I've taken his advice and enjoyed the heck out of this little time machine. Now it is time for someone else to enjoy it.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I've set the reserve liberally. Local pickup only in East Nashville, TN. If you live close, it's possible I could drop it off and catch a ride back with a friend.
