Car description |
---|
My father purchased this Spitfire new when I was 14 years old. Purchased 2/7/73 at Somers Pontiac/Triumph in New Haven Connecticut. I remember seeing all of these new Spitfires outside covered in snow. My father was color blind so he let me choose the color. Original purchase price was $2600 and it had 10 miles on it.
My father only drove the Spitfire on nice days and mostly in the summer. It was his very first sports car. My parents retired to Maine in the early 80's so this is where it's lived every since.
It has been repainted twice it's original Sapphire Blue. Most recently repainted in 2009 and it also received a complete new interior kit from Moss Motors. The convertible top was installed three years ago and was put down for the second time today when I took these pictures. The engine and transmission were rebuilt around 2009. The radial whitewall tires were installed today.
I do have the original Bill Of Sale, owner's manual, shop manual, sales brochure, three sets of keys, spare tire, convertible top boot, and original tool kit & jack.
This is a totally rust free car that has been professionally maintained and pampered. All parts were purchased from Moss Motors, Spit Bits, Roadster Factory, and Sports & Classics. Everything on this works as it should and drives great. Additional pictures are available.
