Job transfer forces me to sell my Spitfire and trailer. The Spitfire is a 1979 1500 that originally had overdrive. The spitfire currently does not have OD though. The trailer is parts from the MK4 and 1500 body style. Both are offered at NO RESERVE in this auction.
The car is (was) my rolling restoration project and needs a few things to be completed:
Engine runs great! Compression is consistent on all cylinders at around 150. Climbs hills all day in 4th gear with no trouble. I winterized it by emptying the fuel lines and running it out of gas before I got my orders to transfer.
Front suspension, ball joints, shocks, springs brakes, etc are all new. I just did these this summer before my transfer. The front is from a GT6. Big GT6 brake calipers, New GT6 rotors, 12mm x 1.5 lugs, and GT6 and uprights, are installed. This upgrade is DONE. I left the spitfire master cylinder in place to keep high fluid pressures. Rear brakes are still Spitfire with New spitfire studs installed. I have a GT6 rear with the larger brake plates and drums included if you want to upgrade those too. The car goes and stops very well for an old brit!
Ignition, brake lights and turn signals work fine but that's about it. I have a Keep It Clean universal wiring harness that is included with the sale. Also included with the sale is: new fuel sender, new wiper motor, good OEM wiper transmission, new turn/horn switch, new electric cooling fans (never needed them for cooling though), OEM ignition switch, new temp sender, and MANY other parts.
Body is good from far/far from good. See pictures for the couple rust spots. Passenger floor is fine, drivers under seat floor is replaced, drivers under feet floor is okay but is on my list for someday. The frame is solid and rust free. I have the better condition trunk lid on the car now but you can switch it back.
Transmission started making a little noise this summer but I have a good replacement included with the car. This is why I haven't got carpet for it. New engine & trans mounts are included too. I also have a good OEM transmission cover, tunnel beauty cover, arm rest & other interior parts are also included.
A set of TR7 slotted 5.5" wide wheels that are chamfered for tapered lugs is included too. I was going to use these when I replaced the tires. Tires should be replaced. They have tread but are cracking from age.
Exhaust should be replaced and I have a 4-1 header as well as a set of 2 mufflers to install. The muffler are designed as a pair for a similar displacement and power band as the spitfire.
Also included is a Weber side draft 40DCOE carb that has been test run and is ready to go. I was going to do this with the transmission and exhaust.
I also have a hard to find big valve / high compression head core to go with the car if you want to build high RPM horsepower.
A new aluminum radiator was installed last year and works perfectly without a fan but 2 new fans are included. I also have a racing radiator included but it is overkill (unless you live in Southern Arizona) and is just a spare at this point.
The trailer tows fine. Very solid welds and free of rust. The trunk is separated from the "back seat" area with screw in aluminum sheet metal panels. I will have the front wind plate welded on and all DOT lights installed before you pick it up. So all it will need is prep for paint and a title. I will help you get a title as it is (will be) a homemade trailer. TR7 wheels are also included for the trailer as shown. Trailer tires are also no good though. The rear diff leaks badly but I have a replacement you can have too or just keep filling if you choose. there is a remote fill tube just for this purpose installed from the previous car I got the part from.
Plenty of other parts and spares and stuff included that are too much to list.
USA Buyers ONLY. Come in person to pay cash balance & transfer the title at a notary or don't bid. NO FOREIGN BIDS. Scammers don't bother. I can not ship. BUYER PICKUP ONLY.
