Car description

1963 TRIUMPH TR3B
I AM RUNNING THIS AS A NO RESERVE AUCTION! The highest bidder will own this car!
Up for your consideration to bid on is a 1963 Triumph TR3B. I was told that the TR3B is more of the rare breed when it comes to the Triumph TR cars. After researching a little online I read that there were only 3334 made. They were made in 1962 but this one was sold in 1963 so it was titled as a 1963 instead of a 1962. Which makes this a little more unique in my opinion of the TR3B's.
*Please take the time and read through my listing as I am trying to spend extra time on it so it will answer most if not all questions you might have of it. Also I am uploading several pictures of this awesome little car so please take a look at all of the pictures prior to bidding! The large pictures will be located below my listing*
It is a blast to drive and gets tons of compliments. It puts a smile on my face every single time that I hop in it and take it for a cruise. I purchased this car from a gentleman here in Illinois that told me it was garage kept most of its life that he was aware of. After taking a closer look at it he appears to be correct. The floors are solid and the trunk area is solid. The only spots that I have seen are on the back side of the rockers inside the rear fender wells down low where the tires would have flung debris against. It appears it was originally green when it was purchased new and was repainted at some point. When it was repainted it does look like they replaced the rockers. It does have some body filler in it. This is a perfect driver quality car. It has its nicks, scratches and dings here and there around the body. The paint is several years old, looks good from a distance but has its flaws once you are up close to it. You can hop in this thing and not have to worry about a rock chip or scratch and actually be able to take it out and enjoy it and drive it all over the place. I feel that it would be a perfect car if you wanted to take it to the next level and do a complete body restoration on it if that is what you are looking for also. The frame is solid and has very minimal rust that would need fixed on it.
The interior presents very well and has been brought back to life with new carpet from the previous owner, several pieces wrapped in new black vinyl and the dash was restored as well. The center gauges have been cleaned and all of them work besides the amperes gauge. The odometer does not count but the speedometer does work. I replaced the chrome grab handle, new glovebox parts and liner and installed a new headlight switch on it. The seats were recovered at some point also and present very well. I have received several compliments about how nice the interior and dash look. I wanted to have a nice interior to be proud of and not have to worry about getting dirty riding in it when going out for dinner in it. I added dynamat sound deadening to the inside of the doors so it had a good solid sound when shutting the doors. New stainless screws were added on the door panels and the adjustable steering wheel was wrapped during the interior restoration. After learning more about these cars, I found out that the adjustable steering wheel was only installed on the TR3B's. It has a new choke pull cable and all of the knobs were replaced with factory style replacements.
It has had a new windshield put in it so there are no chips or scratches in it. The tires have been recently replaced and are in great shape. The wheels were painted black but could very easily be painted back to the stock silver look. The spokes on one wheel is a little lose so it does have a slight vibration once you hit approximately 60MPH. Its not that bad and I never really went that fast in it to worry about replacing it. I figured the person that decides to be the lucky new owner of this thing would either replace it or do a entire different wheel setup on it. It does have the original spare wheel and tire with it. I also have the original convertible top frame for it. I never planned on using the top so I left it uninstalled from the car. I have a used tonneau cover for it and will come with it and also a brand new hoodstick cover that covers the convertible top frame if you decide to install a convertible top back on it.
All of the lights work all the way around. headlights, turn signals, taillights and brake lights. The horn works as well. The telescoping steering wheel still moves in and out like it is supposed to as well by the quick turn of the jamb nut on the steering column.
I purchased a complete stainless exhaust system and just installed it too. It sounds great and looks very nice if you ever care to crawl under the car and look at it. The exhaust manifold was removed when the stainless exhaust was installed and was hot tanked, checked for cracks, new exhaust manifold studs were installed along with new brass nuts. It was also painted with POR15 to keep the original silver look to it. Like every TR out there it does leak oil here and there. It could probably used gaskets and seals in different places. The car runs great, doesnt take much to get it started after sitting for weeks and is a blast to drive. I just decided I would like to move on to something different so this one is up for sale.
I have tried to explain this car to the best of my knowledge but I really encourage you to come take a look at this car in person if you have a chance to and you are not that far away. If you are wanting a concourse quality car then this is not for you. If you are wanting a fun and exciting car you can hop in and cruise and don't mind owning a car you can actually drive and not worry about a chip or scratch then this is car is right up your alley! I am not a dealer. I am just a car guy that loves to find cool cars to buy and enjoy for a while and then lead them to their next owner that will enjoy it just as much as I have. I have a lot of money in this thing and just hope I can at least get most of it back after enjoying it for several months.
