It's unlikely to find another TR-6 in this condition for the price of $10,000.00 I have 5 sports cars and 2 have to go as storage is becoming an issue!
For a British sports car experience, it's hard to beat a TR6. Stuffing a big inline-six cylinder under the hood does wonders for performance and it makes lovely sounds out on the open road. At the same time, the TR6 retains that old world charm that even the Miata wasn't able to duplicate despite years of trying. There's just something special about British craftsmanship and a car with a real wood dashboard.
Recently painted with Single Stage Urethane British Racing Green, the exterior shows extremely well, no chips or cracks, etc. Paint has the right sheen for a period correct look - not "over-restored" with Base/Clearcoat paint. The floor pans (driver side replaced) and underside are very, very good. Usual rust problem areas such as the trunk floor and battery box area are in excellent condition. All exterior chrome is nice and windshield and door seals/weatherstripping, etc. is new.
The interior of the car is great, adjustable leather seats w/removable headrests, 3-point seat belts, nice black pile carpet, leather-wrapped steering wheel, wood dash is in very good shape and all instruments work properly, even the glove-box light works. The tan 3-window folding top (with zip-down rear window) and boot cover are in great condition.Exempt from N.C. State annual inspections because of its age, no smog testing either. Plenty of rubber on the 15" tires and a full size spare. All exterior lights work, even the 4-way flashers.
Mechanically it is exactly as it should be, drive this car anywhere with confidence.
The engine and 4-speed transmission are strong, operate without issue with great oil pressure (90 psig cold and 60 psig hot). It starts easily and idles correctly, the carbs have been properly tuned and synchronized. About 20 MPG on the hi-way, uses Ethanol Free fuel.Just change the oil every 3,000 miles and enjoy it daily.
The engine compartment is clean and acceptable to raise the bonnet at any car show. There are no leaks or noises that would raise concern.
Overall, this TR6 presents very well and is very competitively priced, check e-bay or Hemmings.com for similar car values.
