Car description

Fun little car to drive, especially on our winding roads. Cranks right up even when it's been sitting for months, handles, drives, shifts, and stops great. It's quick and tight as far as handling. The car has had a lot of money already spent; complete braking system including lines, calipers, rotors, master cylinder, etc. New shocks and coil springs all around. New A arms, new suspension bushings all around. New set of tires. New clutch master, and I suspect a new clutch disc as well.I don't know what if anything has been done to the engine, other than the obvious things like a new header, new carb, and conversion to pointless ignition. It has plenty of power, doesn't smoke, doesn't overheat, and has no strange noises.
All this work was done to the car before I bought it on a whim. I drove it 40 miles home and have driven it 20 or 30 miles since. It has mostly sat in my garage, as I'm too old and stiff to get in and out of it.
All the lights work, even the turn signals. The heater works. All the gauges work as well. All glass is good, and windows roll up and down ok.
I do have the soft top frame, and all the bumper parts and covers, if wanted. I think the car looks a lot better without the huge bumpers, but that's just my opinion.
I have a clear Va. title, which doesn't require notarization.
Now for the bad stuff; the pictures make the car look a whole lot better cosmetically than it really is. The interior is shabby, the carpet ragged, dash cracked, seat padding shot, etc. The worst thing is the body. There is extensive rust, especially around the rear quarters and the area behind the seats. There is other bubbling here and there (see pic of hood). It looks like the rocker on the drivers side, as well as the passenger side floor pan, have been replaced. The drivers side floor pan has been sort of patched, but needs replacement. The differential sounds whiny to me, but maybe that's a normal sound for these cars. I could never locate the bolts that hold the hard top to the top of the windshield frame, but it seems like the side bolts hold it down ok. I'm sure it would leak like crazy in a hard rain. The car is a little too loud to suit me, but again, a matter of opinion. Drivers door is a little hard to shut and open. No radio.
Invariably when I sell an old car people want to know if they can drive it home. I don't know of any reason this car could not be driven any distance you wanted to drive it, if your butt was durable enough. If you know anything about British sports cars, you know that the small ones are basically like driving a glorified go cart....only a lot faster.
