I purchased this car on Craigslist in my town about 4+ years ago. I purchased the car with the intentions of doing a body off Restoration since the car has such great history, solid and complete, not modified. Unfortunately the car has simply sat in my climate controlled warehouse and I haven't done anything more than see if it cranks. It doesn't look like I'll have any time to work on it in the near future, so its time to let it go to a new home.
Here's what I can tell you about the car:
I purchased this car in 2014 from the owner who purchased it in 1967. She was nice enough to write a long history (with pics)about the car and how much she loved it from '67-'14. It was parked and covered at her mothers home garage from 1984- 2014. She said she would try to go and start it monthly but stopped doing that about 10 years ago. I will include her story as well as all the original paperwork and contact info. I have the paperwork where she bought in 1967 andall the paperwork where I purchased it, etc.
Body: its fairly solid underneath, the floors appear to be original and without heavy rust. Minimal rust hole on area where driver foot rests. Traction boxes in the rear have had a repair as well as partial inner rocker at some point in its life. In '82 the front bonnet was backed into and they replaced it with OE part which is why you see red oxide primer on the underside showing now. The trunk floor is solid but wrinkled from an accident in '84 (see her story, car was parked shortly after this). The paint shows wear with plenty of nicks chips and a few dings. The trim, chrome and rubber are complete, not perfect but not an eye sore either. The soft top and bows are still in decent shape, doing the job of keeping stuff out.
Interior: I'm my opinion the interior looks to be original to the car. It shows wear but is complete and usable as is. Doors open and shut good, glass rolls up and down fine and without scratches. Glass and door gaskets show age-wear and over-spray. Original dash is cracked in center.
Drive-train: The only thing I have done is hooked up a jump box and sprayed carbs with starting fluid. It will crank and run on starting fluid. Of course fuel is old and brakes are most likely going to need work even though it rolls okay. The motor has a fair amount of seeps and grease-oil residue. Its definitely a driver quality car. No issues or anything that stands out as a massive failure. Tires have dry rot and will hold air for months.
Overall this car is ready to get back on the road and could use some attention to cosmetics if wanted. I believe it would be a great car to tinker with, enjoy and drive as you go. Or a great full restoration candidate.
Clean and clear KY title in my name. Inspections are encouraged and welcome in Louisville, Ky. 40059 . I have several contacts for US enclosed-open shipping as well as international container shipping and would be glad to share those contacts and help organize shipping if needed. It will need to be trailered.
Let me know if you have any questions, I have plenty of additional pictures upon request.
Thanks for looking.
