Listed is my 1973 Triumph Spitfire 1500. After purchasing from a British car enthusiast/collector a few years ago, I focused on attending to safety and mechanical function related issues to bring this nice driver quality Spitfire up to spec for pleasure driving. Sitting on top of a solid frame and running gear is a body that had an amateur level restoration/re-spray at some point. The floors were replaced with heavy gauge metal but not OEM stamped pieces. Apart from the center front of the bonnet beginning to blister, the body/paint overall presents nice and the car gets many compliments at local shows, cars and coffee, etc. I consider myself to be critical and would rate this Spitfire as a nice driver that can be driven and enjoyed. I have replaced the 4 side marker gaskets with new, high quality ones from The Roadster Factory. The chrome center knockoffs to secure the wire spoked wheels are also new sourced from TRF as well as their wood knockoff tool to keep the ears from getting beat up. The oem size Tires have very low miles and will offer many more miles of spirited driving. The trunk mounted luggage rack wood was refinished. The brightwork shows well although not concours level...bumpers have some pitting/patina but are straight.
In addition to a good soft top (rarely used since it remains down with boot cover in a garage), it has the tonneau and extra boot cover.
Mechanically, the engine breathes through its manual choke Stromberg and flows nicely out of a performance header and monza quad tip exhaust. Starts cold or warm with out issue and settles into a nice idle off choke. The 4 speed shifts smoothly with good engagement and no synchro issues present. Apart from a valve adjustment, recent electric facet fuel pump and adjustable dial flow gauge, fluids, and tuneup, the engine needed no further attention under my care. All lighting, despite the Lucas wiring, works including instrument lights. I also have a new in package interior lighting kit from Moss as well as various other parts.
Much of the $2,000+ of receipts was purchased for suspension and interior refurbishment including carpet, seats that were done to high standard with quality, soft black leather, new foam, and trimmed in white piping to tie in the boot cover and door cards with white piping accent.
The suspension was treated to new Koni Gas shocks, lower front springs, urethane sway bar bushings and a replaced rear over axle spring (done prior to my purchasing) as well as rebuilding of brake calipers and installation of new brake hoses and gold performance brake pads. E brake works also.
Clean PA title in my name ready for transfer. If buyer is in PA, the antique tag can be transferred at no cost ($100 bonus).
If seeking a nice, eye catching classic British Roadster for short money, this is one to consider. It is time to free up space in my garage for expanding family fleet.
Please call/text me to arrange to see it. 610-844-5667. My preference is to sell to someone local, however, I am willing to help as necessary with shipping/transport.
