Car description

Scarce find due to its history and original documentation, this early TR4 would be a prize at any show when restored. Originally exported to Germany to its American military owner while stationed there, and then brought back to the US. I have all its original paperwork and documentation from new, showing its German history, bill of sale with purchase invoice, owners record of maintenance. As for the car, a former owner began the dismantling process for the car's restoration, but it was left in that stage when I discovered it in South Carolina. I do have all the parts that were removed and they are mostly shown in the photos. I do have the dual SU carbs as well. The long block remains in the car, but undoubtedly you will want to take up where the former owner left off, and do the restoration that this fine car deserves. It is a much more solid, straight car than you typically see for this vintage, and it will finish into a very nice example with its beautiful original color combo of a white exterior and red leather interior. You will see that the car remains in its original state as far as the body, and has the remnants of the factory leather seats, which are themselves a rare find. Most early TR4's are missing the original TR3 type bucket seats, but these are still intact including the metal frames and seat pans that are usually rusted away over the years. Note the early bubble lens guages still present on the dash! Battery box is solid! Floor pans are solid--amazing!The body is actually quite solid and mostly rust free, exhibiting some surface rust and a few small areas commonly found and pictured, namely the lower left front fender, for which a patch panel is available from several suppliers, and a few small spots at top of rear panel--very common and an easy fix.Note the straight inner fenders that are super solid! You seldom find such a great basis for a restoration, especially with all original documentation, and a German export car too! The hardtop is an aftermarket that were available for around $1200 from a company in California, and it will go with the car at no charge to the high bidder.DOCUMENTATION INCLUDED: Original TR4 Owners Handbook, Bill of Sale dated 12 June, 1962, from the German Jaguar, MG, Triumph Dealership in Baumholder for $2,360, sold on behalf of Standard Triumph Sales Ltd. to US Forces Mr. Maurice Coombs, showing the motor number, chassis number, color combo of red/white, and the optional accessories which included a heater and wire wheels! Also there is a radio service book for the Blaupunkt radio, still in the car! And the maintenance book stamped for service in Germany by the dealer. All this plus a folder of receipts through the years makes this a real gem you won't see again!Upon auction close, the winning bidder shall send a $500 deposit by PayPal or wire transfer within 24 hours, with the balance in cash or by wire in 10 days or less. I will assist with helping your shipper, but shipping is the buyer's responsibility.Title will be provided, which is clear of liens, and signed by the former owner, which is how it will be conveyed to the winning bidder. I will provide a bill of sale to you if needed.
