1975 TRIUMPH TR-6 CONVERTIBLE. PIMENTO RED WITH BLACK TRIM. 4-SPEED, STANDARD WHEELS WITH MICHELIN RED LINE TIRES. HARDTOP. LUGGAGE RACK. 64,367 MILES. RUNNING, ORIGINAL CAR FOR IMPROVEMENT.
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this decent TR-6 for improvement. This car was just acquired from a collector in Illinois. It's a fairly original, nice-looking car with believed original mileage, having been painted only once in it's original color. The interior trim is fairly original and usable. The body on this is very straight, accident free, and generally solid. The panels open and shut well but the driver's door stick a bit (catch needs adjustment). The driver's restraint let go at one point and creased the front of the door and corresponding fender area. There is some repairable rust along the rear fender and tonneau area and a few other pictured areas. The outer rockers could use some partial repair/replacement. The original floors appear very good except a small section under's the driver's heelmat. The frame needs the typical trailing arm mounting area repairing like most IRS Triumph frames suffer from. The rest of the chassis is solid and nice. The car's engine starts on the key with little smoke on choke and then runs clean. The engine revs, runs, and idles very well with a good even tickover. The brakes and clutch hydraulics are up holding pressure, but the clutch disc is stuck to the flywheel and won't release, most likely due to a long period sitting. We were unable to test drive the car as a result. Nevertheless, a bit of investigation and effort could yield a nice driving car...The engine bay is very clean with original paint and would detail up nicely. Air cleaner box is included. The car's interior trim is in OK condition and largely original except a replacement carpet set. The car includes a nice hardtop but the softtop frame is missing. All of the glass is in good condition. The dashboard wood is delaminating and could use replacement soon. All of the gauges are functioning correctly.Overall, a decently attractive running TR-6 Convertible in good colors, needing some attention/improvement. These cars are the last of a classic Triumph line of sportscars and are proving to be good value.
