Condition:
Car is in need of complete restoration. It was last running about 10 years ago but with a little work and fresh fluids it can be running again in an afternoon. The body paint is faded and the edges of the panels are rusted. The car is dirty and dusty and in need of a cleaning.
History:
Current owner has had the car since about 1983. Car was in minor accidentin 1974 affectingfront left corner. Thecar was then disassembled by the original owner and stored in a barn. Car was re-discovered in 1981 and the engine and transmission were rebuilt in 1983. Current ownerrestored the car completely in 1990. Was used as daily driver in Wisconsin andFlorida. Was parked again in 1998 and stored in Michigan outside under a car coveruntil 2006. Then it was relocated to Alabama and stored outside again under a car cover until 2007.Since 2007 it has been garage stored.
Features:
Engine, speed transmission (no overdrive)and rear end are original to the car.Engine uses a points distributor with original style factory fuel pump. Engine has only been operated on leaded fuel; not modified for unleaded fuel use.
Master and slave cylinders for clutch and brakes need rebuilt.
Does not have a windshield wiper switch.
Seats are from a donor Spitfire 1500.
Factory identity plates are present.
Speedometer not original to car; odometer not functioning.
The paint color is not original but the identity plate has paint and trim codes so they can be researched and identified.
Note that Alabama does not Title cars prior to 1975.
Additional:
Parts car is a complete car, lso a 1973 Triumph Spitfire 1500, lue. It last ran also about 10 years ago but the motor burns and leaks oil. Some of the panels are in better shape and some are worse than the red Spitfire.
Also have other parts that go in this bundle and they include: a new convertible top - never been installed, eplacement seat cushions, n extra carburetor, factorymanual, Haynes manual, nd a collection of parts catalogs.
If the restoration is too daunting, hese two cars together are of value for their parts alone.
