Car description |
---|
This is an Arizona/California so it is rust free. I have owned it about 15 years. The car is currently registered in Tucson Arizona and has recently passed its Arizona emissions test. The car does not overheat, ven when driven in Tucson in the 100F summer temperatures. The car is solid but not a show car. I will try to give a good description, ut if you have any questions feel free to call me at 208 596 3269 or email me. The car is in Tucson AZ and can be picked up or shipped from there.
The following items had been replaced since I owned it:
New SU fuel pump, he tires have less than a 1000 miles on them, he battery is new as of last month. The starter and alternator were overhauled and the belts and hoses changed. The car has the Mark II cooling system with the pressurized coolant bottle; quite an improvement over the Mark I system. The ignition system has been upgraded to an electronic ignition system. The timing chains were done within the last 2,000 miles. The oil pump was replaced. The car has a mechanical oil pressure gauge and has excellent oil pressure. The air box and valve covers have been powder coated in the correct color (silver gray) and the air filter has the correct sticker. The engine cooling fan and clutch were replaced with the upgraded MKII fan. The carb air horns were powder coated in "clear" powder coat.
The AC system is complete and installed. It was working fine but now is not blowing real cold. The brakes including the master cylinder have been replaced, ncluding the caliper rebuild. The automatic trans has recently been serviced with fluid, new filter and new pan gasket. The car includes an additional Mag wheel and tire in addition to the normal spare. The PSR was replaced and the front suspension rebuilt,: balljoints, ower suspension bushings and drag strut bushings. O think the front strut inserts were done, ut I am not positive.
Interior: The upper rear seat cover was replaced with an identical one from England. The sun had damaged the upper part of the top of the back seat. The seat foams and covers are excellent, hough there is one small seam repair in the driver seat. The carpet set was replaced with a high grade English made one and has dark tan carpet. There is no sound system, hough you probably don't want an old cassette or eight track unit anyway. The door panels DO NOT have any speaker cut-out in them, o hopefully, ou will locate the new speakers properly.
Improvements I would do: The car has an absolutely excellent soft top frame. I mention this because it is very unusual on a Stag. Most have rusted header attachments or have been twisted and repaired by ham fisted people forcing the soft top up. The soft top is in tact, ut is faded and not pretty. It should be replaced with a nice mohair soft top. The hard top is solid, ut has a small tear in the headliner and has been covered with a black vinyl covering. The covering should be removed and either replaced or the hardtop painted to match the car. There is NO RUST in the hardtop. Stag hardtops from northern climes tend to rust through in many areas; in many ways they are the most vulnerable part of the car as the metal is thinner than elsewhere. The official StagParts manual list a vinyl covered hardtop as an option, hough I have never seen one. It you like the vinyl top you have some back up as to the originality. The exhaust system is all there and working but is not original. Stags tend to rust out the exhaust systems since the back end of them never got hot enough to evaporate the water in the system. The new stainless steel systems don't have this problem. They have a lifetime warranty, re not real expensive and have a wonderful sound. The exhaust system is "bolt on" so no welding is needed. So to sum up: in the future you would probably want to replace the soft top fabric, e-cover or paint the hard top and put in a stainless exhaust system.
Trunk ( or boot if you prefer) The boot carpet pieces and tailamp covers are all there. The spare cover was replaced with a new one (they warp). The main boot carpet was replaced with a new English one. There is a spare mag and tire and an additional one as well.
Shipping: can be arranged with any transporter company. Tucson is on the I-10 so pickup is easy and cheaper than if the car were in a remote location.
