Car description

Hello, let me start by saying that I realize how stressful it can be to buy anything sight un-seen. I don't think a paragraph & 1 or 2 pictures is enough to accurately describe an item of any kind. Let alone a motor vehicle. I understand that you may be in a different state or even a different country & therefore are unable to come view this RARELand Cruiserin person. I want you to know everything I know about anything I offer for sale. For that reason, my postings tend to be a little on the long side. I also post pictures detailing every part of the vehicle. This Cruiser is fresh out of a 3 year storage. I did no clean-up at all. This Cruiser is wearing it's 100% original paint & retains it's 100% original interior. I'm certain both will clean-up nicely. Please take the time to read the item description & view the pictures. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. All will be answered promptly. I have sold vehicles to buyers all over the world. All members who have bought from me have been extremely pleased with my performance & with the items they have purchased from me, I'm sure you will be as well.

Description-THIS IS A HARD TO FIND MODEL!!!!!The FJ62 was the lastof the classic bodied Cruisers. The 62 retained the elegant but obviously capable styling of the FJ60 wagon, but added an automatic transmission behind the tried & trued "F" inline 6 cylinder engine & straight front & rear axles. Making this model as at home on the pavement as it is off road.I am a factory trained Toyota technician. My Father & Uncle are both Master Toyota techs. So, I know a little bit about these amazing vehicles. I purchased this 60 series three years ago from a local seller. I noticed the original owner's manual was still in the cardboard envelope provided buy the dealership which sold this vehicle brand new back in 1989. Sandy Springs Toyota in Atlanta GA. After questioning the seller, I was told that this SUV was purchased there new by his uncle, has remained in his family & in the area it's entire life. SUPER RARE TO FIND A LIFE LONG SOUTHERN FJ ! ! ! ! The previous owners cared a great deal about this truck & it shows. The central GA climate has been good to this truck & it shows. This is the cleanest, most solid, unmolested, unrestored, "survivor" FJ62 I've ever encountered. That's saying a lot considering the huge number of these things to come through all the Toyota repair shops my family & I have been involved with over the last several decades.
I hadplans to turn it into a daily driven, street legal, Overland / Off-Road rig. With very little effort, youcouldturn this intoa vehicle that is way more capable than just about any 4-wheel drive on the planet. With it's legendary toughness & reliability, it can go a few places off the pavement that an H1 Hummer can't go. Plus LOTS of places on the pavement the Hummer can't. Like 75MPH down the freeway, safely & comfortably with you & 3 or 4 teens who are late for soccer practice! Or through the drive thru at Micky D's! The adventurer in me has dreams of changing parts, adding lift, bigger tires & heading out into the wilderness.... But the reality is, this Land Cruiser is a super nice example of a gently used, never abused, meticulously serviced, extremely capable vehicle, just as it sits. Toyota put the best they had to offer into these flagship vehicles & it definitely shows. Even with 265,005 miles & 30+ years of use, you can still feel the quality. They are so tough, the engineering so strong.... it is quite common to find these with well over 500,000 miles which are still going strong. However, it is not common to find one which has been 1-family owned, has lived in GA it's entire life, has obviously never been off road, is 100% factory bone stock & is as close to being completely rust free as it gets! It's very easy to tell that these are all easy freeway miles. Just look at the brake pedal pad. There is zero wear. The same is true for the gas pedal & the carpet in the pedal area. If these were in-town miles, those areas would certainly show a great deal of foot wear. If you take care of it, there's no telling how long this Cruiser will take care of you.... My guess is, a long, long, time!
Drivetrain-Thisversion of the FJis powered by the legendary 4.0 liter, I6, fuel injected, 3-FE, gasoline engine. Toyota used some form of an in-line 6-cylinder engine since the early 1960's. They have improved & refined their LC design over those decades. Until finally unveiling their masterpiece with the automatic transmission backed, 3-FE, 62 series. It is the most powerful & definitely the most reliable version of the classic styled wagons. It performs with all the guts you need to tackle tough terrain & the freeway commute. Yet still enjoys AMAZING fuel economy!
I have personallyserviced cruiserswith well over 500,000 miles that were still going strong without ever having had any major repairs. This engine fires right up. NO SMOKE. NO TICKS. NO MISS. NO CHECK ENGINE or other warning lights. No blow-by. I did notice a couple of fluid drips after being on the road for the first time in three years. The A440F automatic transmissions in these Cruisers are as tough as everything else. This one shifts smooth but firm, just as it should.
The transfer case stick in the floor shifts like new. Feels like it's never been used at all! The (Hi-4), shift on the fly, button on the dash works just as it should. The factory manual locking hubs engage & disengage freely. Both the front & rear differentials are nice & quiet. Everything shifts & operates just as it should. I had both front brake calipers replaced & the rear drum brakes serviced when I purchased the vehicle three years ago. After the long storage, they still stop well. The steering & suspension feel smooth. There is a small amount of play but much better than what you'd expect from a four-wheel drive vehicle of this year & mileage.Mechanically this entire vehicle seems to be in excellentcondition.
Body & Frame-This vehicle has lived right here in the metro Atlanta area since driving off the showroom floor. So there is absolutely no rust or corrosion on anything anywhere..... other than one tiny spot of rust through on the bottom corner of the right rear wheel opening. I can only assume a small amount of dirt or road grime built up there & held moisture over a period of time. The spot is smaller than my index finger & is ONLY in the outer sheet metal or "skin". It was there when I purchased the Cruiser & has not grown in size in the three years I've owned it. I did not spray any paint or primer or try to hide it in any way. I want you to know exactly what you are getting. There is noinvolvementwith any of the structural metal behind the little spot & this is the ONLY spot on the entire Cruiser. I have crawled under, over & through every single inch of this beautiful FJ. I have NEVER seen a nicer body on an unrestored FJ62, ever! All the door jams are perfect. All the wheel wells are perfect. Both the inner & outer rockers are perfect. The rear hatch & tailgate are perfect! SUPER RARE! EVERY PART OF THIS BODY other than that one little spot I mentioned is rust free & very nice! The frame is completely rust free. The floorpans are rust free. This truckhas never been exposed to salt. Noicyroads. No ocean spray. NO SALT.The under side of the vehicle isclean &everything is tight & free from corrosion. I've often thought the 60's & 62's came from Japan pre-rusted. It is rare to find a rust free Cruiser but this is one! Every body panel is as straight as a string. I don't see a single door ding! There are a few scratches & imperfections in the paint but far above average for a vehicle of this year & mileage. I see no evidence of this Toyota having ever been in an accident. All the body panels are factory original. As you can see, the all original, factory paint, still has a deep luster & shines very well!
Interior-This Landcruiser still has that "FJ60/62 smell". If you've ever owned a nice one, you know what I'm talking about. It must be the materials Toyota used. In my experience, only these models have it. It smells like "quality". The seats are all in great shape. Their tracks &mechanisms all operate as new. There is no breakdown of the padding or support springs/wires. The factory coverings are in above average shape but not perfect. There is some "age staining". I have never had the vehicle detailed or tried to clean the interior in any way. It is in a very nice, original, well kept condition. The door panels & side / cargo paneling are all extremely nice, showing very minimal if any wear. The headliner is perfect & does not sage. The dash padding does show very minimal cracking right in the center but nice overall. The carpet is very nice & shows only minor wear if any. The are no odors.
Options-It would take me an hour to list of the options found on this Flagship Toyota. As you can imagine, this thing had every optionavailable in 1989.Everything works! (the power antennamast for the radio will need to be replaced as the nylon teeth have deteriorated, the electrical portion of the left rear power window switch is missing, the plastic outer switch is present, the window motor is present & operational using the driver door master switch) The aftermarket roofrack pictured is included but is not a factory option. No holes ormodificationswere made to the body when installing this rack. It simply clips onto the rain gutters. All of the weather-stripping is present & supple. All of the brightwork is in above average original condition. However, the front bumper is bend slightly.
Tires & Wheels-This FJ still retains it's factory steel wheels. They were originally chrome but somewhere along the way were painted black. All (5) tires are matching Goodyears. All still are wearing evenly & have 80-90% tread remaining. However, there is visible dry rot on the four mounted tires. If you are planning to drive it home, I will be happy to take it to a local tire store so that they can install a new set of tires for you, prior to you flying in. I will not charge to take the vehicle to the tire shop but you will be responsible for purchasing the tires & related charges. I would recommend trailering the vehicle home or having it shipped, simply due to the long storage & age of the tires. It would be much better to go through this Cruiser & hit the road with confidence. But that is your call. The truck is fully operational just as it sits.
