This 1967 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser is the perfect mix of vintage and new. After all, this classic 4x4 has a timeless look, and all the reinforcements to live up to its go-anywhere reputation. There have also been terrific upgrades, like A/C and a fuel-injected V8 heart.
One look at this 4x4 and you just want to go on an expedition. After all the front bumper not only has a bull bar, but it also has been integrated with PIAA driving lights, a full jack, and a Warn winch. The roof has a full rack with both an ax and spade shovel already mounted. In the rear is a full-size spare on a swing-away mount and a proper trailer hitch. It's a highly useful package, and we even like it presented in white. After all, you show off the mud from your latest adventure if you want to, and while the finish has some shine, the overall look is far from a trailer queen. So you'll always happily be the first one to blaze a new trail.
The interior is built for a ton of function, and there's even some comfort added in, too. Up front you have Procar high-back bucket sport seats. There's also a proper roll bar and Simpson seatbelts for everyone front and rear. The dash has the standard classic Toyota readouts. Plus, you have some auxiliary gauges and separate buttons for you locking differentials. There's a locking center console that features cup holders and a Pioneer AM/FM/cassette stereo. Like a good FJ40, the roof is removable. And no matter if the top is on or off, you'll enjoy the added cooling of R134a air conditioning.
Under the hood is a terrific upgrade to a 350 cubic-inch V8. We love these Toyotas for their near indestructible reputation, and the Chevy small block unit shares that kind of status. At the same time, this upgraded crate motor and its fuel injection deliver a huge added helping of extra power and torque. It also has the right pieces, like an aluminum intake, shorty headers, and an aluminum radiator w/electric fan to help keep it running cool. You can control it all thanks to the four-speed manual transmission. And just like a good 4x4, the first gear is a crawler. But more than just a motor upgrade, this whole setup was invested in to create a superior go-anywhere machine. There's an ARB air compressor under the hood for the front and rear locking differentials. Plus, you have Skyjacker shocks, a lifted suspension, and BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/As. And when you're just taking this Toyota out on pavement, the power steering and four-wheel power disc brakes are handy features, too.
This is the FJ with serious extra power and poise. So for those who want their classic 4x4 lifestyle to get elevated, call today!!!
