GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 1973 Toyota FJ-40 for your consideration. This FJ-40 is powered by Toyota's infamous F series 3.9L I6 motor which is paired with a 3-speed manual transmission. Used from 1955-1974, the Type F engine is commonly known to run 500,000–600,000 miles without a hiccup. It was constructed as a 3.9 liter naturally aspirated, in-line six-cylinder engine. The F series of engines were engineered to be similar to GMC L6 OHV 235 engines but were tooled to have a taller engine block to suit the FJ's needs.
This FJ is painted in Desert Sand which when complemented by the 16-inch factory style wheels wrapped in new 33-inch tires makes for an aggressive offroad appearance. It remains almost entirely stock with the exception of an aftermarket SunPro tachometer mounted on the steering column.
Though relatively sparse on creature comforts, the FJ40 nonetheless captured the attention of buyers across the world due to its reliability, sturdiness, and off-roading ability. One fun feature of the FJ-40 is its removable top. Some examples came with a soft-top but this one here was one that featured a removable hardtop.
Toyota's FJ40 has long been a must-have for any 4X4 enthusiast and has recently fallen into favor with auto enthusiasts and collectors around the globe. With the utilitarian nature of the vehicles and the extreme demands many have been subject to, quality, original type examples are few in numbers, and restoration figures on these vehicles are high. The 1973 Toyota FJ 40 offered here offers a great opportunity to acquire high quality, very usable FJ 40 that is accepted in all circles. Please call or email with any questions or for additional information.
