This 1988 Toyota Pickup SR5 is an attractive 4x4. After all, these have a fortified reputation, and this one is enhanced further with a fresher replacement motor. Plus, you know it has the unmistakable resemblance to an icon.
When you see a black Toyota pickup with a lifted stance, black wheels, and a brush guard with fog lights, you of course can't help but think about Back to the Future. This one instantly has a Marty McFly vibe, but there's much more going on here. There was a respray about five years ago which means this classic still has a nice clearcoat gloss in the sunshine. And they invested in this correctly, right down to the details. So it even retains the classic strobe stipes on the hood, sides, and tailgate. While the full package looks nice, the liner in the bed is a reminder that these Toyota's rugged reputation was earned with a ready-to-work attitude.
The interior looks fresh because it is fresh. There has been a solid investment in the door panels, headliner, carpeting, and more. Even the upholstery on the bench seat is new. And not only does it feel taut, but Toyota was great about providing a bench that sits three-across while still giving added bolstering and comfort to the driver. The dual spoke steering wheel feels grippy; the stick shift is where your right hand wants to rest; and the added oil pressure gauge is a particularly handy addition for people who do real 4x4 work.
Under the hood is Toyota's 2.4-liter fuel-injected motor. This is a Jasper replacement engine installed in 2011. That means you keep the sturdy reputation, but in a fresher package. This has been under proper maintenance and care, and there are receipts to document it. This includes a new clutch later in life for the five-speed manual transmission. The two-speed 4x4 transfer case combines with the extra three inches of lift and the meaty ProComp tires to deliver a true go-anywhere attitude. And the power steering and power brakes w/discs up front mean this is good for in-town driving, too.
The Back to the Future style made you stop and take a look, and this truck's features are what really has you hooked. So don't miss this hardy Toyota 4x4. Call today!!!
