Car description |
---|
This Camry is a true survivor. It belonged to an older gentleman who raced cars in the 1970s. Although he raced GM products, he purchased this Toyota new in 1988 and took real good care of it, driving it an average of 2,600 miles per year. Eventually he was no longer able to drive and it sat in his sister's garage for 7 years. I bought it from her in November 2010. Since then, I've put less than 1,900 miles on it.
Upon purchase I towed the Camry to the service shop where the old fuel & filter were removed, oil & filter changed, cylinders were soaked in Seafoam, valve cover gasket, plugs, wires, air filter, and battery were replaced. It fired right up and has ran great since. I put new tires on it in 2013 and just recently installed a new battery & windshield wipers.
The body & undercarriage are in great shape (it was Ziebarted when new) with the exception of a few small scuffs/ scratches and two small rust areas shown in the last 2 photos. Driver's door: one small surface rust area. Passenger side: behind the front wheel opening. I've noticed all the other Camrys of these years have the same issue. Otherwise, you can see that the body, glass, interior, & engine are in outstanding condition.
Only mechanical issues are the exhaust is starting to rumble (it appears there's a few pin holes which I covered with a section of galvanized metal) and the gas gauge shows only 3/4 when the tank is actually full. I have documentation on the exhaust installation in 1996, with a Toyota Lifetime Guarantee.
