Car description |
---|
1981 BJ42 Toyota Land Cruiser. Exactly like the FJ40, except the BJ's have diesel engines. This truck is a Canadian model sold new in Winnipeg. I am the third owner and have owned this truck for 12 years, the last 2 years were spent on its extraordinary restoration and transformation.. This is a numbers matching original engine vehicle. It is equipped with the 3B 4-cylinder diesel engine.
Mileage is 370,xxx km's not miles. VIN is:JT3BJ42C7B0002095. E-bay wouldn't accept my VIN.
The CDN BJ42's are 24volt, except for the headlights, which are 12V. Dual battery in series.
This truck is mostly original with some hard-to-find original items such as the radiator shade, and 24V AM radio (which all work). Also equpped with 24Volt Warn 8274 winch. 4spd manual transmission with transfer case. High and Low Range 4'wheel drive. Manual Steering, Power Assisted Disc brakes up front, drums in rear.
This is a Resto-Mod although much of the factory equipment remains. It has an aluminum tub, the front doors have been changed to the older pre '1976 style and the front bib is also from a pre-1976 model. Color has been changed from factory original dune beige to a 1970's Toyota Hilux Light Green. Comes with original owners manual. The pictures never do the vehicles justice.
This is an extraordinary example of a restored BJ42 with some nice changes to make it look like a 70's era Land Cruiser. Restoration completed in February, 2019. Reason for selling? It's at it's highest value now, and if it doesn't sell, I will keep it and wheel it, although I do have my eye on another project. It is ready for the trail or your collection, your choice!
All restoration work done professionally by Millson Motorworks on Vancouver Island, B.C. Truck is registered in my name with clear British Columbia title. Have all receipts for the work done; too many numerous parts to list. http://www.cruisinoffroad.com/ built the custom rear bumper and skid plate. This truck is ready for the trail (or the museum!).
This is a frame-off restoration, virtually every nut and bolt. All rust areas cut out and replaced with steel. Epoxy coated primer (Amerlok) and Cloverdale Armorshield paint single stage finish.
Hundreds of photos chronicalling the restoration here:
