After this model, Toyota changed their US marketing tactic and started building these as pavement queens, lots of bells and whistles and comfortable luxury add-ons, none of that in this model. The windows will go up and down with no power, the doors lock and unlock with a key, and you actually have to know how to drive a manual shifting transmission if you want to go forward and backwards. It doesn't hook to your iPod or have a navigation system, no seat warmers or fancy modes. It does have a really great traction assist option called 4WD but you will have to get out of the vehicle to set the 4WD hubs manually, with your hands! The original straight 6 motor was rebuilt by Portland Engine Rebuilders.
All of the best aftermarket items that are functional and improve the overall performance of the vehicle have already been done, it needs very little to be completed, the new Weber carburetor needs to be jetted down, it runs rich as it is. It has a Tuffy locking security console, professionally tinted window, Old Man Emu suspension, aftermarket Aluminum rims, new Les Schwabb studded tires, aftermarket fog lights, rubber cargo mat and custom rear panels inside, locking Yakima Rack system with Kayak rack, Brody knob.
This is, by far, the best SUV Toyota ever produced, I spent a lot of time researching and seeking out this specific model and year because of the quality and overall value of the vehicle. I took it off the road to do the carb change a few years back and it has been in storage since. The new carb just needs a smaller jet kit to lean it out for most efficiency, it runs and drives and comes with the original carburetor. I started my own business and now I have no time or money for anything but my business. So, if you have experience with the vintage Landcruisers or have done your research and know exactly what you are dealing with, this is the vehicle you have been looking for, it has not been molested or abused, it has been well loved.
