In back, those military jump seats you see to each side are no mere novelties - they fold upwards with ease, combined with those ambulance style doors providing both appreciably more storage space than was offered by the FJ's competitors of the day, as well as much easier access to cargo inside. Built for glitch-free driving, this vehicle has a very capable 4.2 liter inline 6 sitting under the hood in an exceedingly clean engine compartment, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Despite the "museum piece" look of this Land Cruiser, it's properly configured for action. 4x4 capability and generously- sized tires provide admirable surefootedness should you detour from the asphalt, a benefit made all the more evident by the installation of new suspension components during its restoration.
