Get ready, the 2018 season is coming! Be prepared to be on point and wow the masses with the best example you'll find of an OEM+ Toyota sports machine. You can be ready to roll in VIP style to that next invite-only event in a JZZ30 chassis fitted with enough performance upgrades to put down the nails if you want to leave the next guy in the dust. You might have seen this model before as a Lexus SC400 and wonder if why the name is different here. The Toyota Soarer was originally released in 1984 in Japan and, after receiving critical acclaim and swift sales, went on for four generations before ultimately being retired in 2005. The third generation in particular was selected to be one of the anchor models imported to North America under Toyota's newly formed luxury Lexus brand. Known as the SC400 in North America, several changes were made for the new market, with the most significant relating to the drivetrain and suspension/sub frame: the Soarer retained the same layout as the JDM MK4 supra, whereas the American version was converted to left hand drive and moved to a v8 drivetrain.
This fine example of Japanese engineering has been tastefully updated and upgraded with a mix of performance and quality of life improvements. A full list is included here:

Now, while this is both a luxury and a connoisseur machine, it is also 26 years old. It has been diligently maintained and cared for over the years, however, a 26-year-old car is no longer perfect:
Slight passenger door dent
· This is subtle enough I wasn't able to capture it on camera. It can only be seen in bright sunlight and only then at a highly oblique angle. Unless you're really looking for it, you won't find it.
Front bumper cover has been repainted
· The car is lowered and over time has been scratched on sidewalks, speedbumps, etc. I had a reputable shop repaint it a couple years ago with the OEM paint colour, blending the hood and fenders to match.
The HVAC control screen is black
· Due to the design of the LCD screen and how they react in cold climates, it’s common for these to turn black. Replacement kits are available online or from Lexus directly. The controls and system otherwise work as intended.
Fuel gauge is inaccurate from 3/4 to full
· Rather than the usual float gauge, the Soarer used several sensors to measure fuel in the tank. The sensor responsible for 3/4 to full is not working correctly, but the others all do.
Curb rash on passenger side wheels
· The tires both have a slight stretch and poke. The realities of this type of stance mean no wheel is safe. I've highlighted the damage in photos and it can be repaired easily if you so choose.
Minor paint chips on the rear wheel wells
· I don't know when this occurred, but it was prior to when the car was purchased. The area was touched up and is a minor cosmetic defect only. Photos have been included.
Overall, this car strives for Japanese originality as best as we've been able to accommodate. Only genuine Toyota parts have been used where possible, going so far as to source original fasteners where needed and only installing OEM Toyota oil filters. It even includes the original flare from japan and highway certification sticker!
The car has been driven less than 5000km (3000mi) each summer (legitimately never winter driven since it was imported) and I can count the number of times it has seen rain on one hand. All power options (windows, seats, locks) are in great shape and work well and, if you're a stickler for originality, the OEM floor mats are in good condition as well. The mileage is 81,150km but I have listed it in miles for the auction.
Notes: Due to the Japanese VIN, a carfax report is not available. They are not compatible with the Japanese standard numbering system (I tried to get one in the past). The car is otherwise very well documented since its importation in 2009, and this will be provided in both paper and digital formats. I’ve also tried to capture every detail here in either text or photo, but do not hesitate to ask if you have if you have any further questions. The car is available for local viewing and inspection; however, we can also arrange a skype video chat for out of town buyers. Shipping will be at the buyer’s expense and responsibility. To prevent fraud, the car will be released when payment is confirmed/cleared by my bank. Transaction is also covered by eBay's purchase protection program.
