This is a 1979 Toyota FJ55 Land Cruiser. I got it a few days ago on my way back from dropping some cars off in snowy Oregon. I saw it for sale on a side road near the California /Oregon Border. Had room on my trailer for it so I bought it and threw it on my trailer back to Arizona . Mucked it out today a bit . Before I decide to keep it, I will list it here. There is no engine. Wel, at least in the engine bay. There was a old Chevrolet 6 cylinder sitting in the rear of the Cruiser where the rear seat should be. .On its side. Greasy, dripping all the way home. After polluting every highway with an oil slick from Oregon to Arizona, I got back I pulled it out and power washed away the Cruiser. I have no clue if that came out of this Cruiser, if it was planned to go into it or it is just an engine needing a place to be stored by previous owner. The fellow I got it from had no history on it. Other than it was relative who passed who owned it before. Nice solid body. Nice frame, floorboard, rockers. Some rust pinhole areas on a couple lower door corners Lower front fenders have rust thru as shown in pics. Right side was patched poorly a long time ago. Left side has not been touched.Whic, other than where someone sprayed oxide primer here and there to protect bare metal, the rest of the body has not either. Original paint from day one. What you see is what you get. Sunfaded on roof, flat elsewhere. The body is actually pretty straight and clean for an old Cruiser that has never had its body worked over the decades and still its original factory paint..No big time dents or damage. The corner edge of the passenger front side door has a dent. Looks recent and I think it possibly happened when the previous owner was trying to get the Chev engine into the rear. This is a pretty much complete FJ55, other than the engine. radiator, rear seat and I imagine some other stuff I am not aware of. But everything major seems there. 4 speed tranny, transfer cas, driveshafts, power steering pump, etc. Even the ignition key.And the factory bottle jack. The front bumper is included but dented up pretty good. White spoke spare, sunvisors, headlight trim rings,.passenger side mirror. Even the greasy, oily, unknown condition Chev 6 banger can be put back in the Cruiser if someone wanted it.But this truck really calls for a newe, better, more powerful engine to be installed. FJ55s are neat trucks, especially late model 79 like this one. This will be a great base to start with. Go back to stock, or go modern drivetrain.Hard to beat this Cruiser for the money.I travel around the West Coast with my truck and trailer and might be able to get it to you or close. And can arrange trucking to Long Beach California shippers for overseas buyers for $300. Clean straight title.
