IN 1972 THE MAN WHO BOUGHT THIS LAND CRUISER OWNED A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. HE BOUGHT THIS FOR HIS OWN PERSONAL USE. THIS WAS THE LAST TOYOTA HE BOUGHT BEFORE HE RETIRED AND CLOSED THE DEALERSHIP. HE BOUGHT THE TRUCK TO KEEP AT HIS RANCH IN CLOUDCROFT NEW MEXICO AND USE DURING HIS VACATIONS TO THE MOUNTAINS. AS SOON AS HE RECEIVED THE TRUCK HE HAD THE GREEN PAINTED ON THE ROOF AND FRONT DOORS SO IT IS THE SAME AGE AS THE REST OF THE ORIGINAL PAINT. HE ALSO HAD THE INTERIOR REDONE IN THE COLOR YOU SEE IN 1972. MOST OF THE WHITE PAINT ON THE TRUCK IS THE ORIGINAL PAINT. IT LOOKS AS THOUGH THE PASSENGERS FRONT FENDER WAS REPAINTED MANY YEARS AGO. I DON'T REALLY SEE ANY MAJOR DAMAGE ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THAT FENDER SO I AM GUESSING IT GOT THE PAINT SCRAPED OR SOMETHING. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM HIS NEPHEW THAT INHERITED IT.
LOOK CLOSE AT THE PHOTOS AND YOU WON'T BELIEVE THE ORIGINALITY AND CONDITION OF THIS 45 YEAR OLD FJ40. FOLKS YOU NEVER SEE THEM LIKE THIS. ALL THE INTERIOR PAINT IS ORIGINAL, A FEW SCRATCHES ON THE REAR FLOOR AND EVEN LESS ON THE PASSENGERS FRONT FLOOR BOARD, YOU CAN SEE THE WORN PAINT ON THE DRIVERS FLOOR FROM BEING DRIVEN. ALSO THIS TRUCK HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED, ALL THE WINDOW RUBBER IS BEAUTIFUL AND ORIGINAL. ALL THE RUBBER DOOR SEALS ARE ORIGINAL AND JUST SUPER. WHEN YOU GET IN THIS TRUCK AND SHUT THE DOORS THEY FIT LIKE NEW AND THEY ARE TIGHT. THIS TRUCK DOESN'T EVEN RATTLE WHEN YOU DRIVE IT.
TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK WILL JUST BLOW YOUR MIND. IT HAS EXCELLENT POWER, EXCELLENT OIL PRESSUR, RUNS COOL ON THE TEMP, EVERYTHING WORKS, CLUTCH IS GREAT, POWER BRAKES ARE GREAT. THE ENGINE RUNS SILKY SMOOTH. IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL DATE CODED SPARK PLUG WIRES FROM 1972. I DID REPLACE ALL HOSES AND FAN BELT ALONG WITH THE WATER PUMP JUST FOR SAFETY SAKE. THE TRUCK ALSO HAS NEW GOODYEAR WRANGLER ALL TERRAIN TIRES. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN FULLY SERVICED. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE TRUCKS WHEN YOU DRIVE IT YOU KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT IT WAS LOVED IT'S WHOLE LIFE AND IT WILL TAKE YOU WHEREVER YOU WANT TO GO. PERSONALLY I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
BE SURE AND LOOK AT THE PIC OF THE JACK AND THE TOOL ROLL. NONE OF THE TOOLS HAVE EVER BEEN USED, THEY ARE STILL IN THEIR WRAPPERS. THE OWNERS MANUALS ARE IN LIKE NEW CONDITION. THE JACK LOOKS LIKE IT HAS BEEN USED A COUPLE TIMES.
I HAVE HAD SEVERAL TOYOTA FJ40'S AND TILL NOW I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN ONE THAT BASICALLY FEELS LIKE A NEW OLD TRUCK. THE STEERING IS PHENOMENAL ON HOW TIGHT IT IS. MOST OF THE TRUCKS HAVE A LOT OF STEERING PLAY, THIS TRUCK IS SO TIGHT I HAD TO LOOK UP WHAT THE STEERING PLAY ALLOWANCES WERE. THEY ARE 1 INCH TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT OF CENTER ON THE STEERING WHEEL FROM NEW. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THIS TRUCK HAS FOR STEERING PLAY. I COULD TALK ALL DAY ABOUT THIS TRUCK CAUSE IT IS JUST AMAZING.
THE ONLY RUST ON THE TRUCK IS WHAT YOU SEE ON THE LOWER REAR CORNERS, NONE IN THE SILL AREA. I HAVE POSTED A FEW PICS OF THE UNDERSIDE TO SHOW THERE IS NO RUST IT IS JUST DIRTY. ENGINE SHOWS TO HAVE NO LEAKS, NO TRANNY LEAKS OR DIFFERENTIAL LEAKS. ONLY OIL NOTED IS FROM WHEN I CHECKED AND TOPPED UP WHAT WAS NEEDED. ALSO THERE IS A PIC OF THE FRONT LEAF SPRING SHOWING THE ORIGINAL PAINTED ON PART NUMBER.
