1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo
Canadian edition
For sale is my two owner 1991 Toyota SW20 MR2 Turbo. The car is all original minus the TCS Motorsports exhaust, BC Racing coil-overs (factory coil-overs included) and Enkei RPF1 wheels. The car is originally from Canada so the odometer reading is in kilometers NOT miles (the car actually has 106,360 miles on it). The speedometer reads in km/h but includes mph underneath in smaller print. This car has ALL options with documentation to prove it!
The car has been well maintained with service records extending back to vehicle delivery. The body is in excellent shape with absolutely no accidents or rust. The paint is an 8/10, the previous owner had someone detail the car who didn't pay enough attention to edges and burned through the paint on the corner of the front bumper as well as the passenger side engine cover. There is slight clear coat chipping on the driver side mirror. The roof behind the t-tops has acorn dents in it. These are all nit-picky things, but I want to be as clear as possible so there is no confusion-pictures below. It is a 26 year old car, so I am expecting a potential buyer to understand the vehicle will not be in perfect condition cosmetically. Mechanically the car is excellent and is an absolute pleasure to drive. The only non-minor issue the vehicle has is that there is no charge in the A/C system. I have not remedied this yet as this is the perfect time to convert the car to r134a versus refilling with r12 but would leave that decision to the next owner. I drive it up to Columbus to see friends occasionally (180 miles round trip) and it has given me absolutely no cause for concern. I removed the lower engine covers for the photos to show cleanliness, they will be included with the sale.
There is a common issue with this car that I noticed on both the Autocheck report and on the maintenance records; when whomever the attendant was at the dealership/DMV office inspects the odometer, they occasionally forget to convert from kilometers to miles. If you see this on the Autocheck and calculate the miles, it stays consistent through to today. The previous owner went so far as to circle erroneous miles from his local US Toyota dealership to show them their mistake-the records change to reflect the km to mile conversion for a few records and then bounce back and forth depending on the tech working on the vehicle remembering to convert or not. Just wanted to point out this clerical error for potential buyers.
Note: On spec sheet options show Lux Turbo with A/C. According to included sales brochures luxury was a group and included power windows, door locks, leather seat surfaces & door trim, anti-theft system, 7 speaker am-fm stereo with cassette and "acoustic flavor" tone control, compact disc player, digital code security system & diversity antenna, and finally door courtesy lights with illuminated entry system. Cruise control and ABS were standard for the Canadian market MR2 Turbo. Rack and pinion was the only available steering configuration when this MR2 was ordered.
