Car description

This is one clean first generation 4runner with the famous bullet proof 4 cylinder 22RE engine. You will be hard pressed to find a cleaner one. This truck runs smooth, starts every time. Mostly stock (see mods in features). I love this truck, turns heads every corner, runs great. It is a tank in the snow. Adult owned, never abused, not off-roaded. The chassis has superficial, minor rust. The reason for selling it is that I have kids and need 4 doors. Otherwise it is the vehicle I would be keeping- the things you will do for family...
I bought it here in Colorado 3 years ago, and have done minor things to it: replaced cracked rear view mirrors, removed chrome trim, replaced worn out stick boot, installed after market front bumper (from Addicted Off-Road) and 9,500 lb SmittyBuilt winch, replaced front seats (from a Toyota Celica), and got it professionally painted. See original Craigslist add from 2nd owner. Highlights of the previous owner add: "factory undercoated when new in Colorado, 2in ToyTec suspension lift with add a leaf/shackle (3 in lift in rear)".
I will not disclose the reserve price, but I would say it is low. It is about what I have put into it. You can do the math if you see previous owner ad.
Features:237,000 miles on it ( I have only put 5K on it myself, in 3 years)22RE original engineNo A/C (the A/C control plate is cracked, this is a $10-$15 dollar part, easy to fix)31 x 10.5 tires (I would say ~15kMi left)Addicted Off-Road front bumper9,5000 lb SmittyBuilt winchRear SmittyBuilt tubular bumper with integrated tow-hitchRecent professional paint job with new stripe decals from jamesdeanscreations.com (I installed these myself- better than previous weathered originals, might see imperfections on decal close up pictures while zooming)Manual hubsManual windows (my kids love this feature, don't know why)Rear window controls work (both from front console and rear door key lock)Clean Colorado titleInterior, including carpet, is in amazing shape (worse fault is small crack line on dash board noted below and crack on A/C plate)Per previous owner ad (5KMi ago): 4 Rancho 9000 shocks Clutch replaced at 160KMi New radiator Muffler Front and rear brakes
Imperfections noted (see pics):- The driver door hinge was repaired by previous owner. Finish on it is not the best. It works OK, but occasionally you have to bump the door with your shoulder or elbow to get out.- Interior ceiling cloth has a couple of small rips, but otherwise it is in really good shape- Small crack in the dashboard (just to the right of the inclinometer)- I replaced armrest leather. I would re-do it with a darker gray that matches the rest.- Clean Colorado title has 165kMi. 3 yr ago I was registering 2 vehicles at the same time and made a mistake, as the correct mileage then was 235kMi (it is now 237kMi). I went back to the DMV to correct it then and was told it was not worth the hassle for a vehicle of this age and mileage.- Rear window has scratches from normal use (look hard on rear view pics)
The things I would still do to it if I kept it:- I would replace the original radio/sound system (way cool, but definitely have the scratchy sound from the 80s)- Tires are good but are slightly unevenly worn out- truck vibrates when doing 75 mi/h on highway. I would replace them if you do more than occasional highway driving.-The front grill has some water stains- a new one ( < $40 on ebay) will provide additional shine for less work than working on the original- I would install rock sliders (it sits a bit high and might help getting up, specially for kids- also for looks)- I would consider doing upholstery on rear seats (they have stains)
This truck is extremely solid and clean. This a rare find if you are looking for one of this trucks. Yet, it is 30 yr old, and has been a driver. It is by no means perfect. I have attempted to disclose all imperfections and show them in the pics. Ask questions before you bid. What you see is what you get- it is sold as is.
