I'm selling my 1985 Toyota MR2 which has 106k original miles. It has a clean Ohio title and a clean Carfax report which verifies the low original mileage. It has rare factory cruise control, factory sunroof with the original sunshade, factory mudguards, factory A/C which needs to have the compressor replaced, original spare and jack, original factory floor mats, original AM-FM-Cassette player, and rare factory blue seats (which are noted in the originalwarranty book).I am the 3rd owner and purchased it in Feb 2017 via a Craigslist ad in Monterey, CA. I had it shipped to Columbus, OH at a cost of $1,267, and have invested another $1,100 in spare parts, original Toyota steel wheels and factory hubcaps, and new General sport radial tires. I'm selling it with no reserve...my loss, your gain. The reason for the sale is I'm moving in with my new wife and there isn't space for this classic future collectible sports car. The good is its extremely original condition, its extensive documentation, its verifiable owner history, and its beautiful, rust-free California body. The documentation includes the original owner's manual, original warranty book which shows that it was purchased in June 1985 from Inglewood Toyota in the Los Angeles metro area by a man named Dale Goodhew whose family owned one of the largest ambulance services in the LA area. Dale died at age 58 in 2006, but I found his sister through some research and learned his story and got photos of him with his new '65 Mustang which he received as a high school graduation present, as well as a photo of him from 1967 when he served in the Army in Vietnam. The 2nd owner purchased the car in LA in May of'87 when it had approx. 13k miles on the odometer. He worked overseasoff and on for about 18 years starting in '92, and the car was only driven about 500 miles in that time. The documentation includes a photo of the 2nd owner with the car in 1987 (in a snow storm in the mountains above LA), as well as most of its California registrations and most receipts from when the 2nd ownermaintained it. The car has absolutely no rust-through anywhere on the body...it has only very small spots of surface rust near the windshield and at a few areas near the front spoiler and front fenders. The seatsand carpet are nearly pristine (there is one small hole in the right seatwhich might have been from a cigarette), and the dash is nearly perfect with only one very small visible crack. The bad is that the number 4 plug quickly fouls due to bad valve seals (I had a local mechanic check it out and that was his diagnosis), which is a relatively easy fix. The engine has 165-180 psi and is capable of being driven at speeds up to 80 mph, but it has an obvious miss due to the fouled plug, and it smokes for the first few minutes after it is started. It has an exhaust leak which would be an easy fix. I have driven it about 900 miles in 3 months, and it needs struts and front tie rods (according to Firestone Automotive). It tracks down the road fine without drifting, and stops fine. It has a check engine light which indicates a bad engine temp sensor, but the temp gauge works fine (in fact, all gauges and the tach work). It also probably needs an alternator, as the battery runs down after it sits for a couple of weeks, and the alternator doesn't appear to be charging it sufficiently. It starts quickly and revs freely, and the transmission shifts smoothly and doesn't pop out of 5th gear. According to receipts I got from the 2nd owner, it has had a recent brake job, new clutch and pressure plate, and timing belt replacement. I am including a complete4AGE engine and 5-speed transmission whichare froma 1986 MR2 with 116k original miles. The carwas in a minor fender-bender in the past that will require a replacement driver's-side fender...it didn't affect the hide-way headlights (which work fine), or the hood (whichopens fine). All lights, wipers, and the horn work, but the factory radio is inop. Also included are a complete TICS intake manifold, distributor, alternator, A/C compressor and hoses, exhaust manifold, plug wires, starter, rare AM/FM antenna to replace the originalone which is broken, front bumper cover, original rear spoiler, a complete set of factory alloy wheels which include the center caps and factory lug nuts, and a Haynes shop manual. Please note...I will be leaving on June 12th for approximately 6 weeks for a computer school, and the car must be paid for in full in cash and picked up from my residence in metro Columbus, OH by that date. I require a $500 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of the close of the auction, and complete payment within 7 days by cashier's check or cash in person.
