How cool is this? A 1970 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40, Capri Blue, that is nearly rust free.... Or about as rust free as most of us will ever see.
This gem was bought new in the state of Texas, where it resided with the original owner who you see in the first picture. That picture was taken years ago, when he passed it down to his grandson. (The rest of the pictures were taken today.) On the grandson's drive back to Utah, the clutch went out on him. It was towed the remaining distance and then stored for 10+ years.
Here's what has been done since bringing it back from its long slumber ...
Body: We stripped the exterior parts and gave it a good wash and buff job. The paint is in exceptional condition and has some really great patina, but it is thin in some spots. The hood and windshield hold downs were crusty so we stripped them and refinished them in the original pewter color. The mirror arms were also repainted pewter. They are black in some of the pics, but are refinished in pewter now. Both mirrors have new OEM mirror heads as well. We also stripped all the old weatherstripping from both front doors and the rear doors and installed new OEM weatherstripping.
Interior: The interior was in really good shape. The driver seat only had a minor tear but the rear seats looked weathered but no tears. Both front and rear seats have new OE style seat covers and have the original seat belts in good condition. The floor pans are 100% solid, front to back. We also installed an OE style headliner.
Mechanical: She runs like the wind! After sitting for that long, who would have thought. Grandpa had a peppy 350 installed somewhere along the way. It has a fresh tune up; plugs, wires, cap, rotor and oil change. We also installed a new clutch and clutch master cylinder. She fires up with the first bang of the key! All the electrical works as well! Blinkers, lights, brake lights, horn, gauges, etc. You can actually drive this truck down the highway at highway speeds, not like the awesome F motor she was born with. Oh.... she's also got an older a/c unit. The compressor turns over so maybe there is a chance it works. If the new owner would like us to look into that we can most certainly do so.
All in all, she a mighty awesome rig that will get you where you need to go and maybe score you a date too!
So, here's what I ask if you are interested in the truck!
Whew! THANKS FOR LOOKING AND HAPPY BIDDING!!!
