Here is a rugged, eliable and iconic 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60. These trucks are one of Toyotas finest examples of quality engineering. Known worldwide as a capable and dependable off road adventure vehicle, he TLC definatly delivers! The best characteristics of this truck are many so I'll highlight a few.
This truck ALWAYS starts. The engine has never been rebuilt and this is a testament to Toyotas durability. If the truck sits for an extended amount of time it takes a bit longer to get the fluids flowing but it will always fire up. The transmission shifts beautifully and the clutch has plenty of life. 4WD works awesome and it has Mountain Goat like footing on snow and ice covered roads. Solid trucks call for solid brakes and these brakes could stop a freight train.
It is strong! I've driven newer trucks with bigger engines that don't feel as beefy and solid as this truck does. There is a sense of security and comfort driving this thing that is hard to find in today's rides.
It's an attention hog! People really do like these Cruisers and want to talk to you where ever you go. It's fun chatting with complete strangers about this awesome rig.
The body is about as straight as you can get on an original truck this old. There are several scratches and gravel pitting from years of dirt road travel and western use but no dents or dings from accidents or crashes.
I realize that purchasing a vehicle on the internet requires a great deal of trust and faith that the seller disclaims any issues with the buyer. Here I will note the things that I would consider as in need of repair or not ideal.
This particular truck has spent most all of its life in the high mountain dry air of Wyoming. That is a benefit to the rust prone sheet metal of the early 80's Japanese vehicles, ut it is also a detriment to the easily cracked vinyl of the same era. There are a few small spots of rust on the body of this truck but the under carriage is clean solid, nd rust free. A previous owner applied POR rust stop system on the common areas where these cruisers typically get it. Good job stopping the rust but the touch up paint is a shade off (represented in the pictures). The worst of it is above the passenger side rear fender.
The vinyl on all of the seats is cracked from being in a dry arid climate. The driver inside door panel is a custom panel that looks great but doesn't match the others. I put seat covers on the front seats that will come with the truck.
The original owner removed the AC system some years back when the compressor went bad. Someone convinced him the truck would have more power and get better fuel mileage if he just removed the system all together. They were probably right, nd Wyoming summers rarely call for full time AC, ut you should know.
The power steering is not working. I'm not sure if it's the pump or gear or even a bad hose. I bought it like that and never repaired it because frankly, t's not that hard to turn without it. Again, ot like todays cars where if you lose your PS you need the Hulk on one side and Superman on the other, t really isn't tough to turn even completely stopped.
A rock got the windshield on the driver's side. The rest of the glass is in great shape and the windshield ding shouldn't spread thanks to the Window Doc. The speedometer intermittently works. All of the other gauges work including the odometer and tripometer. The choke cable works fine but the threaded part that holds the knob to the dash is broken.
The headliner is in overall good shape but there is a tear above where the right rear tire well is. It has been non-professionally fixed but doesn't hang down or impede your view.
Overall this is a super solid truck that would make an excellent daily driver, n awesome hunting rig, irst time teen's car, r an excellent candidate for a rebuild/ restore. The Cruiser has been used as a utility vehicle and served that role well. It is not an immaculate, ampered bottom grocery getter but the price reflects that and I'm sure the new owner will be more than satisfied.
The truck will be sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied. Please do not bid if you don't intend to pay. I will help facilitate the pickup and delivery of the FJ to the winning bidder but all expenses will be the sole responsibility of the buyer. Please feel free to have the vehicle inspected prior to your purchase and also feel free to email with questions you might have about the truck. I will accept just about any form of payment, tandard rules apply, ut I will not accept PayPal for anything other than the deposit. Thanks for reading my book and good luck!!
