A Celica SUNCHASER is a special conversion of the 1979-1981 Toyota Celica. In all, robably 2000 GT and ST models reached the roads. TOYOTA commissioned the Griffith Company to do the conversions, nd it involved cutting of the roof immediately behind the windshield to the edge of the B-Pillar to accommodate a targa-style removable roof, nd removal of the roof from immediately behind the B-Pillar to the trunk to accommodate a collapsible convertible rear section. When fully converted, ll that remains of the normal roof is a roll bar. This car is in excellent condition for its age. How it runs: The car is hard to start when it is cold but it ALWAYS starts. When it is warm, t runs great and is a lot of fun to drive! The ride is smooth, nd the stick just glides through each gear like butter. How it looks: While the car looks good, here is one larger rust spot caused by the last owner who left a light for a motorcycle wrapped in a rag in the trunk. It is very unfortunate I did not notice sooner, ut unlike most rust issues, his spot is contained inside the trunk and has not broken through the paint. There are also a few other blemishes, hich include a few small rust spots and a few scratches. There is nothing serious with the appearance of the body, nd the paint is nice enough not to draw attention. The exterior: The two cornering lights are not working. The white letter tires in the picture have been replaced. I will update the photos soon. The car leaks - it needs new rubber seals (~$150). The interior: The cigarette lighter does not work and the doors rattle. There are 2 cracks on the padded dash. The mechanics: The car does not have the repair history, ut it is a Toyota with only 71K miles; count on very few repairs. Also new Virginia State inspection (Expires August 31, 016) Changes and upgrades: The car's interior used to be the ugly tan that was popular in the 70's, nd it looked even worse when it faded. The new blue and white interior looks very nice with the white exterior. The master cylinder and the convertible top are new. It will have new tires as well. Please feel free to ask questions!
