The Toyota MotorCorporation was commissioned by the Imperial Japanese Army to manufacture afour-wheel drive vehicle similar to the United States Army's Jeep. In the early1940s, oyota developed the Model AK prototype. As development of thelight-duty trucks continued, he Japanese automakers became interested inconsumer vehicles of the same nature. About a decade after its militaryinception, he BJ Land Cruiser was crafted for the public market. By 1978, heLand Cruiser 40 and 50, J and BJ, eries vehicles featured multiple engineoptions and appearance packages to keep consumers satisfied. The Land Cruiserhas been produced in convertibl, ardtop, tation wago, nd utility truckversions. It is renowned the world over for its reliability and longevity thathas led to huge popularity, specially in Australia where it was thebest-selling full-size, ody-on-frame, our-wheel drive vehicle. Toyota alsoextensively tested the Land Cruiser in the Australian Outbac, onsidered tobe one of the toughest operating environments in both temperature and terrain.A true testament to its staying power is the fact that production continues onthis model to this day.

This 1978 FJ40hard top model is fully restored and is powered by a smooth running F20 4.2liter inline six cylinder engine with 4 speed manual transmission. Combinedwith legendary toughness of the Toyota 4 wheel drive system with low rangetransfer case and 4.11 gearing, hese trucks can climb almost anything. Foradded insurance, his formidable truck has a heavy duty front bumper mountedwinch, ated at 8000 lbs. of pulling capacity with towing rings. Making thisparticular FJ extra special is the factory correct Mustard yellow paint, ithblack vinyl interior, ocking centre console and rear fold down jump seats.This eye catching livery adds to the purposeful look of this FJ which startswith its heavy duty removable roof rack, ear bumper mounted swing away sparetire and rear towing hitch receptor with towing hook. The extra equipmentincluded consist of a heavy duty rack mounted projection lighting up top, lusfront bumper mounted driving lights, large axe, win gasoline cans, hovel,Gorilla case and heavy duty jack to get you out of a jam. The truck has had extensive maintenance recently performed and is one of the nicest FJs we have ever seen in our shop.

THIS FJ DRIVES AS GOOD AS ANY FJ OUT THERE. IT HAS DISC BRAKES IN THE FRONT AND DRUMS IN THE REAR. IT HAS GOOD ALIGNMENT AND BALANCE. IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY LEAKS, OES NOT SMOKE, ND IT STARTS RIGHT UP EVERY TIME.

THE FEW FLAWS THAT I CAN SEE ARE AS FOLLOWS:

• A FEW MINOR IMPERFECTIONS IN THE PAINT
• THE ROOF MOUNTED LIGHTS DO NOT SEEM TO BE HOOKED UP AND OPERATING
• THERE IS SOME MINOR SURFACE RUST ON THE MOUNT FOR THE WINCH.
