Car description

1921 Studebaker Special Six Touring Original Drivetrain, 289ci Straight Six (29.4hp) & 3spd Manual Well Documented - Receipts, Manuals, Period Photos, Titles VIDEO WITH LISTING VIN: 3001849 Engine: 39001-6 (Dated 12-23-1921) We purchased this fantastic '21 Studebaker Special Six Touring from a gentleman in North Dakota who had owned the car since 2001. Prior to moving to North Dakota, the car appears to have spent its entire life in Arizona. The car will come with a number of photos of the car and its owner from...the early 1950s, thanks to the Mohave County Historical Society (Arizona), as well as title and registration documents from 1969-2001, all showing long-term, Arizona-based ownership. There is also a photo log documenting a complete restoration of the car in the early 2000s, with the paint work having been done by RS Collision of North Dakota and the mechanical work having been done by RW Auto Center and County Line Machine, both also of North Dakota. As it sits now, this is a nicely presented, very "correct”, well-sorted example that is in need of nothing and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner. Exterior: - Painted the correct dark blue and black about fifteen years ago, the car has been enthusiast owned and garage-kept since. Paint presents very well, with just a couple very minor blemishes on the side of the hood. Please see the video along with the listing for close-ups of these blemishes. - Body is in excellent shape. No dents, scrapes, or other damage. - Wheels are in nice shape, with no damage or cosmetic issues. 33" BFG whitewalls are in nice shape as well, and were manufactured in 2002. No dry spots or observable wear. - Glass is clear and crack free throughout. - Top is in good not great shape; the rear plastic window is yellowed. The car will also come with side curtains that button up to the vehicle and make it water tight, which are in nice shape. Interior: - Black vinyl interior is in excellent shape. No burst seams or tears. There is some light wear along the top of the front bench seat, consistent with jewelry rubbing along the top while resting an arm up there. - Five digit odometer reads 39,543. We can not verify if this is actual mileage or not. Glass on odometer face is cracked. - Full size spare is mounted on the rear and is in great shape. Toolkit under the rear seat is present (see photo), as well as in the driver's door pocket. - Wooden wheel is in nice shape, no cracks or damage. You can actually see the spots where six different pieces of wood were cut and fused together to form the wheel. Very cool. Under the Hood / Underbody: - Car is very nice underneath. The car was taken down to the frame when it was restored in the early 2000s, and hasn't aged much since. Underbody shows nice shiny black metal and relatively fresh wood. The car will come with a small booklet of photos showing the car during the restoration process. - Engine is believed to be original. Engine number 39001-6 is date coded 12-23-1921. - The car runs and drives nicely. Idles smooth and steady, shifts nicely, tracks and brakes straight. - Two batteries. The starter is run on a 12V system, whereas the rest of the car is a 6V system. With any further questions, requests, or to discuss purchasing, please reach out to Jake at 773-303-6122.
