Car description

Our good family friend has decided to sell his prized 1978 Avanti II with only 66k miles. He bought it from the original owner in Michigan in 2002 and after driving it for a couple of years and a few thousand miles, it was then parked and has been sitting since. Last month, he decided to start getting it ready for the road and put on a set of used tires to get it going, but discovered rust on the chassis and floor areas in the process. This is likely because it was in and out of storage and the humidity clung to the metal and the rust took over. Knowing that this is much more of a project he intends to be involved with, he has decided to concentrate his efforts on another one of his cars during his much-deserved retirement. Now, it is for sale with a clean title under his name.
The body is solid, never been in an accident. The paint is cracked and faded everywhere, but at least it is one color. This will definitely need a new paint job. The good news is, the body is all fiberglass so it has no rust. The chassis is rusty in many areas and there is rust-through in the area behind the left rear wheel where it connects to the rear tubular crossmember. He says this is a common area for this to happen. Also, the passenger side floorpan has a hole in it, please see pics.
The original Chevrolet Corvette 350 engine features a 4-barrel Quadrajet carburetor, HEI ignition and factory AC. The Turbo-hydramatic 350 three-speed transmission ran and drove fine 15 years ago, but of course, this does not mean it is ready for the road anytime soon. It will need a thorough going-over as he did not attempt to start it. The interior is complete and the shag carpeting is faded. The headliner is hanging. The seats are still in good shape and the switchgear and trim are all intact.
Now for the auction details. This auction is for the complete car as shown with a free and clear title. It is being sold at no reserve. The trailer shown in NOT included, you will need to "Bring a Trailer." We will assist with helping you load as well. This is being sold as is, sale is final. No warranty whatsoever. Deposit is non refundable. You get a "Driveway Guarantee", which means, once you drive away, no more guarantee. Yes, some humor in life is good.
Note: if the winning bidder does not come through with the sale, the non paying bidder will be reported and the transaction will quickly ruin your future ability to buy and sell here. We recently went through this and two tire-kickers lost their deposits and eBay cancelled them, so don't try to scam your way here.
