Car description |
---|
1924 Studebaker Special Six, Model EL, 5 passenger Touring Car. It's been in the family since the mid-1950's. We've had the pleasure of maintaining and driving it for the past 26 years. It has the original top, leather seats, running gear and wood spoke wheels. It runs and drives fine. We've driven it to many car shows, used it for parades, drives in the country and even the weddings of our two children. It's time to find this fine motor car a new owner since we are downsizing.
Some details - 289ci straight six, 3 speed manual gearbox, top speed around 45 mph, 32x4 tube-type tires, rear mounted spare rim and tire, all four original hub caps, rear brakes only, Alemite grease fittings with covers, flip out windshield with dark green fold down sun shade. It also comes with the complete set of original side curtains. We replaced the plastic windows in most of them. The car was repainted in the mid 1950's with what we think were the original colors, but other than that it's simply been maintained as needed.
This would make a great antique car for someone getting into the hobby. It's easy to maintain and drive, once you get used to double-clutching. It also gets lots of smiles and waves on the road and comments at car shows.
