Sorry about canceling and relisting but I had to make a correction and this was the only way I knew how. Also, I added four new pictures.
There were 3050 (I have seen other numbers reported) Sky Hawks made in 1956. I have not seen any estimates for the number of Sky Hawks that exist today. In other words, Sky Hawks are somewhat rare and only produced in 1956. In my opinion, it is the best-styled hardtop Hawk among the 1956-61 Hawks and the closest one to the clean lines of the Lowery 1953 coupe. It was Bob Bourke who was responsible for the Sky Hawks that had bold grilles, sculptured sides,two-tone colors, and no fins. I bought this Hawk about ten years ago from the second owner in California. This car was to be for my wife who no longer drives, hence, it is for sale. The Hawk has had an off-frame restoration. My objective was to make the car safe and reliable while maintaining the Studebaker image without being a purist. The frame was cleaned and painted with Por-15 and the undercarriage was undercoated. Engine painted Studebaker color at this time also. The original exterior color from South Bend was Snowcap White over Daybreak Blue. It was repainted Airforce Blue by the second owner and I had it repainted (BC/CC) Airforce Blue and Snowcap White in May 2017 by Transformers Paint and Body. The rocker panel below the door hinge on the left had surface rust that raised the paint which was corrected before painting. The car does not have any rust. The car was rewired with E Z wiring kit and now has a fuse panel. The six gauges were replaced with Tri-Tech, plus new toggle switches. It has the Hawk electric clock that is running and keeping reasonable time – loses less than one minute a day. The freeze plugs were replaced and the crud scraped out, theengine block and radiator were flushed. It has a new water pump, four new drums, and brake shoes as well as new rear shocks. The differential was reconditioned by Tucson Differential. The generator was replaced with a new Alternator May 2017 plus new copper 6-gauge wiring. The Hawk has the 289 CI V-8 with a Flight-o-Matic transmission, dual exhaust, full wheel covers, and wide white walls. The 289 Sweep Stakes engine is in great condition. The original speedometer had 59,000 miles that I think was correct base on my observations of wear and tear. The battery is about a year old. The 4-barrel Carter carburetor has the original oil bath type filter. Seats, door, side panels, and headliner were redone in July 2017. The black carpet is in reasonable good condition. The side dome light was replaced with an overhead console. Soundproofing was installed in the ceiling and flooring. The overall condition of this Sky Hawk is better than average and I believe the car can be driven to a new home. Nonetheless, this Hawk can have improvements made e.g. A/C, PB, PS, side view mirrors, etc. I have listed a reference for estimating prices. Thereis a reserve. See Pay Pal email for deposit.
